kirbyYo, so where did everyone put their farm in Sanctuary??? The best place would be where the house you scrap is to the side of the house with the workstations, but you can't scrap the foundation or the dead bushes. I ended up just putting it behind the house and reconstructing the fence, but it feels like a pretty shit spot.
the spot doesn't matter, settlers will work it no matter where it is, the only reason you'd want to put it somewhere accessible is so you don't lose your settlers to re-assign them to stuff later on, but anywhere will provide food for your settlement

you can also rename the pieces of armor you wear from "pocketed leather arm" to anything you want, take it to an armor bench and press T on it. then it'll be marked out for you.
shit, I knew about that feature but I didn't think to use it for this purpose, thanks.definitely saves a lot of time
re: giving items to dogmeat, I don't have a companion but I feel like it would be insanely annoying to (again) remember which items are theirs, take all, give their shit back to them, etc. with dogmeat it's just dog armor but even that I feel like is pretty silly
settlers definitely do some stuff on their own, I had a bunch of crops set up for one of the settlements, I set up the bell, 0 settlers, came back to add more shit and one guy was already farmin away the tatos

anything they're wearing shows the equipped icon, i just avoid those
also you can manually rename their items too, so like, "Piper's Hat", "Piper's Coat", etc
new settlers are automatically set to farm any available crops, you usually don't need to handle the farm unless you're making it for the first time for settlers that already exist.

working on a permadeath no vats survival no companions mode, so far I've come inches away from death in super duper mart (hordes of ghouls) and the deathclaw early on, this is a thrilling way to play fallout 4 but it's also terrifying. Not trying to plug myself or anything since the stream is pretty choppy and the youtube recordings are bad too (it's not bad on my end), but I streamed the first part a couple days ago and will likely continue to do so soon.

it can be annoying, from what i could tell when a companion equipped any apparel it would remove it from their inventory, at least thats how it worked with the 1 i travel with. I would give them a set of cage armor to wear and then it'd replace their default outfit in the inventory and disappear.
i pretty much use companions as a mule, what they do in combat/their equipment doesn't really matter to me anymore, they're just noise for me to carry more shit with. but i also pretty obsessively clear every area out of all the items i can find. travel back and forth when i get full and store all the shit i found to sell it at a later date
kirby
??? I was asking where people put their crops.
i thought you were asking about an optimal spot to put crops, not for where looks good. at the edge of sanctuary, theres a giant tree that you can't scrap, then theres the two houses that are ruined you can scrap, behind one of those houses is a little area flat fenced in w/ a doghouse and food bowl in it. if you scrap the dog house it'll probably fit in and look like a garden.

when you came back, did the food actually count in your overlay? from what i've done they are basically retarded robots.

matchui wish you could get a lawn mower to get rid of all the bushes
those are annoying as fuck. I don't know why they made some scrappable and others not.

fDefaultWorldFOV= FOV Value
fDefault1stPersonFOV= FOV Value
FOV Value should be replaced with whatever you see fit. Do the same for the Fallout4Prefs.ini located in the Documents\My Games\Fallout4 folder. Finally, head to your Steam install directory, likely ‘Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Fallout4’, and paste the same information beneath the [Display] block. Save, and your FOV should now be changed. The default is 70, so change it in increments until you find a comfortable field. It’s inconvenient, for sure, but at least there’s a way.
