#tf2center, a modern reformation of the legendary Epsilon eSports, were booked to participate in the DreamHack Winter Invitational, the first such tournament at DreamHack in recent history. The tournament promised to be an exciting showdown between them and other regional teams, and also a peek at whether the former world champions were still able to claim the title of being Europe's best.
Despite committing to the tournament, though, #tf2center have had their fair share of issues actually getting there, especially when they lost their veteran medic KnOxXx and were faced with difficulties getting to the tournament. However, they appeared poised to attend after being sponsored by TF2Center.
Recent events have left them in the lurch again, however. Their scout schocky recently found he was unable to go, leaving them searching for a replacement. The team also planned to once again play with KnOxXx due to his replacement Bulle being unavailable, but the recent terrorist attacks in Paris made him unable to attend. They were planning to use beavern and kos, respectively, as standins for the two, but the final nail in the coffin was the loss of their roamer Mike, who had a last-minute scheduling conflict.
Due to this, the remaining members of the team have chosen to pull out of DreamHack Winter, feeling uncomfortable in having to play without half of their roster.
The team's demoman, numlocked, said the following about the situation:
Due to being unable to field a team that we're all happy with, we're unfortunately pulling out of DreamHack. The bad news kept coming: first Stefan couldn't come, then Bulle couldn't come, then KnOxXx couldn't come, and finally Mike couldn't come. All of them were unable to get the time off work.
Sorry to anyone wanting to see us compete at this event and those wanting to see a proper DreamHack tournament. We will be refunding everyone who has donated to us in the next couple of days.
The organizers for the DreamHack Winter Invitational are currently considering options given this last-minute withdrawal and will announce any changes soon.
