For teams not in the ESEA Season 20 playoffs, the offseason shuffle has already begun. The first team to find themselves shifting is Meat Market. The rising team was moved up following a second place finish in Intermediate last season, but was not expected to have a strong performance in their first Invite season. Indeed, they finished in 7th place at 6-10, only above the two teams that died during the course of the season, but had some notable results with some close games against the top four teams and trading wins with other teams in the playoff bubble, including a win against Strawberry Mangoes that knocked them out of the playoff race.
After the season, two players have decided to leave the team: Sezco, scout and Invite veteran, and Saelot, medic and newcomer to Invite. The team is now seeking replacements in preparation for another run in Invite next season.
Sezco, LAN-proven scout, steps down from Meat Market
CheesyMacgyver, the other scout on the team, said the following about the team's future:
Saelot's departure will be difficult to adjust to, as she plays medic in a fairly unorthodox way for the style of our team. It might be tough for any potential replacement to adjust at first, but I’m sure we will figure it out.
Even though Sezco is a great player, he didn’t seem to fit into the team; we had clashing playstyles on scout, and the role he filled was not something he was comfortable with and differed from his normal playstyle. Going forward we’re really looking for a scout who can fill the role we need.
Moving forward, our team's goal is to make the playoffs in Season 21, and I think we can do it depending on who we pick up and how they fit into the team. I’m always learning a lot playing with bl4nk and slamBerg, and I want to keep improving my play and our team's play.
Meat Market retains the following players:
- Scout: CheesyMacgyver
- Roamer: slamBerg
- Pocket: bl4nk
- Demoman: pelt
