Unless I'm mistaken, "nerdstars" are mostly influenced by post count - so you can most definitely shitpost your way to getting "nerdstars." Upfrags and downfrags do influence stars, but not by nearly as much.

Looking at most peoples' shit, it seems that 1 star = ~500 posts. So if you have less than 500 posts and you have more than one star, you're doing big forum things.

Also, the only time you should EVER upfrag your own posts is when someone else upfrags you first. Then it has two frags instead of one and you don't look like you upfragged your own post. It was a vital part of my posting strategy.
