When i am playing TF2, my ping sometimes can go from 100 to 700 and stay like that for a long time.
This doesn't just affects me in tf2 it also affects me when i am surfing the internet.
This really irritates me when I am playing anyone have any solutions?

When did this start?
What kind of router do you have?
Did you try to turn on QoS for your pc?
Do you use wireless or ethernet cable? if the former, use ethernet cable, if not possible, get a wifi booster/repeater (don't know which is best)
If you use Ethernet and still has ping spikes turn off wireless connection and/or close programs or torrents that eat up your bandwidth.

I'll edit this post once i get home
The one thing i know right now is that i use wireless connection
This started shortly after I got the new router ( cheaper than paying money each mouth to lease a router from Time Warner Cable)

It's more than likely that the wireless connection is the cause. I tried gaming on a laptop (as a test) while browing the web/youtube on another computer. I started to have nasty ping spikes.
If you can, definitely use Ethernet.

It's important to note that boosters/extenders will slow down connection speeds. Also extenders tend to be fairly expensive. It's much better just to drill a hole in your wall and route a Ethernet cable through it.

Yeah that's why I said use Ethernet cable if possible, I don't know if he uses desktop or laptop so if his router is on a floor and desktop is on another it's not easy to make space for the cable so his last resort would be wifi boosters/extenders.
However if he has a laptop definitely go with the ethernet cable, way better transmission.

this has been actually happening to me and a few other people in scrims yesterday when connecting to NFO and Tragic Severs. Our ping would go up to 700 for a minute or two. it was effecting people who lived across the country from me, it was effecting me and H5 in a scrim and before when i was ringing, it was effecting 3 people in the server, we all had different providers and routers.
