I'm getting sudden random crashes to desktop with no errors. My cousin is having the same problem. They aren't very often but are still annoying.

I'm on DX8 with chris's max frames.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Additionally, my audio breaks while my game is crashing and doesn't work for a little while. I am also dx8 with max frames. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do, short of a reinstall?

yeah i'm getting the same thing, i'll just be playing and it goes straight to desktop, anyone know whats up with this

happened to me then i got an updated hud, so for me it was a hud problem, but its a game crash so it could be a variety of different things.

Sounds like the problem is with DX8. A few weeks ago I would crash whenever someone joined the server and the only way I found to fix it was to change to playing on DX9. Also mat_viewportscale seems to be bugged as well, if it's not at 1 all I can see is a giant checkerboard on my screen.

Sounds like you might need to be playing with shitty FPS until TF2 gets patched.

I haven't had a crash for 2 days now so I got my fingers crossed hoping this problem is magically fixed for no reason.
