I've seen some people getting getting huge fps boosts from updating their MOBO. Might want to try that if it isn't up to date.
Mr_WillSpeaking of DirectX 8, is it common for people to have Software DirectX level of 9 but a Hardware DirectX level of 8?Show Content
I'm uncertain if it's relevant or not, but it doesn't seem right to me.
In my launch options I have -dxlevel 91
That shouldnt be right. Especially for your graphics card. Umm. Maybe something got screwed regarding DirectX on your pc. Maybe see if you can reinstall it?

Probably not a fix since it's not related to Tough break but if your sound system is managed by Realtek try updating your drivers since it's not automatic. (Mine were last updated 2011) Got a boost of about 15-20 fps in tf2 and 40fps more in cs:go. Worth a try at least
Firemat_queue_mode should be 2 or if that doesnt work/crashes you do -1, 0 is bad.mat_queue_mode 2 // mat_queue mode is another frequently asked about cvar, it // defines the threading method to be used by the material // system. It has been unstable to use in the past, but // nowadays it's generally okay. // // Here are the possible values: // -2 legacy default // -1 default // 0 synchronous single thread // 1 queued single thread // 2 queued multithreaded
Again, I didn't mean mat_queue_mode, I meant host_thread_mode, using the value 2 means I cannot use local servers that I create e.g. tr_walkway. I'll edit my original post now.

I do use a Realtek HD audio manager, but I have no idea how to update it.
That's what it looks like for me, but looking through the whole manager I can't find a way to update.
Is there a website someone can link me to which updates my drivers?
