Introducing WietHUD
Works with the Matchmaking/Meat your Match Update
- Using #base for core files (clientscheme.res/hudlayout.res/main menu) enables updating HUD by extracting the default hudfiles with the provided .bat file & HLExtract (command line version of GCFScape)
- hudanimations_manifest.txt to allow for modular & easier maintenance of animation files (no more broken contracts!)
- Very easy customization with themes & 4:3/5:4 resolution support (default to 16:9 widescreen)
- Multiple Themes (Orange/Red/(Light) Blue/Lime/Olive/Pink/Purple)
- More modern look & feel to Team Fortress 2 while using default assets/fonts
- Additional buttons in main menu; Start Recording, open console, snd_restart, record fix;stop
- Reduced size & optimized objective indicators & timers
- Small Engie Build/Destroy & Building Status Panels (look & code) + Pipboy & Xbox 360 controller support
- Full support for Mann vs. Machine + improved Upgrade Station look
- Useful keyboard shortcuts in backpack, store, crafting & server windows to browse/skip through pages (A/D/E)
- High Quality Item Images everywhere
- Toggle between bordered or solid colored item/skin backgrounds (comment #base line in clientscheme.res)
- Increased items on store pages to 24
- Single file controlling the look of all charge bars in the center of the screen (info)
- MvM finding an Australium audio playing when unboxing or trading up (with custom sound replacement)

The version you downloaded might not have had any contents in the default_hudfiles folder.
Updated the HUD to use a new extraction batch file (+ 32bit binaries) that leaves only the required files in the folder so I can provide them by default and have changes visible in diffs.
This should now be fixed so the hud works on Linux/Mac (please test to confirm) without requiring the extraction file (which is Windows only atm).

Working on a fix/alternative for the health crosses to just be numbers (this will make it into the revisit of the FreezePanel)

To have the HUD work on Linux systems you NEED to make all files have lowercase letters ALONG with the folder name, otherwise the game won't even load the hud. And what I'm seeing from GitHub, you do have uppercase letter in the files. That's also the reason why Valve themselves made default HUD's files lowercase for the Linux release of the game.
I have no idea how it is on Mac, but I guess it could be the same since Mac OS is UNIX-based too.

Thanks for mentioning this! I will have a look at making a bash script that makes all the filenames lowercase, because having them camelcase makes it so much easier to find files when editing them!

It is actually surprising how minimalistic yet appealing this hud is. Would recommend

does adding custom crosshairs just work by editing hudlayout.res like other huds? for some reason adding things to crosshairs/hudcrosshairs.res doesn't do anything, will my custom crosshairs be removed if I update the hud using the batch file?

I'm having trouble getting the hud update bat to work :( It opens up and than it closes.

@scrambled Adding them to hudlayout.res should work fine, just make sure the font is defined and included in Clientscheme.res and it will stay after updating with the .bat file
@catman1900 the bat file closes automatically after 3 seconds when there are no errors, if you check the last modified date on the files in default_hudfiles you see those have been changed to when you executed the .bat file

Great HUD man, but wanted to ask one thing, is there any way to disable the 2D class image on the lower left corner in game? I think it's a bit distracting.

@mba same as in any hud, modify resource/ui/HudPlayerClass.res and disable the ClassModelPanel (3d) + classmodelpanelBG and/or PlayerStatusClassImage

Update to the hud:
- Big Health Numbers in TargetID / FreezePanel / Disguise Status
- MatchMaking fixes (end of game stats panel, tournament ready up, animations)
- Player Health now has 3 options: Cross / Cross + Big Numbers / Big Numbers
- Hide button for 'Revive' panel so you can use chat while being revived
- Improved readability for names above players heads when spectating
- Fixed Animations for Health & Ammo to use Clientscheme.res values and be easier to change
- Ammo in clip low color set as default to be similar to low health
- King of the Hill cap indicator is now a border instead of a bar below the time
- Optional 'No Text' killfeed option by uncommenting icon_only_killfeed in hudlayout.res when using minmode
- Vaccinator Charge Bars are now pinned to each other for easier positioning
- Various fixes for Arena elements and moving panels filled by plugins (jump/surf servers)
Apparently Windows 10 Smartscreen could be blocking the .bat file to extract the default hudfiles.

Bunch of small fixes to a bunch of files to make the newly added stuff look pretty and consistent with the rest of the hud.
MM Scoreboard, MM Stats panel & Winpanel all have Team Leader avatars, Team Status on top has been increased slightly & Timers now look good in Matchmaking.
Ammo now has proper 'low' animation for all types of weapons
Also had a bunch of small but noticeable fixes to the Lobby Panel, rank number bleeding in to the title, thinner font and proper alignment for the global and friend leaderboard ranks/names and the 6v6/9v9 dropdown has a fixed position for 21:9/weird aspect ratios.
Loadout screen has shortkeys: R to equip weapons/cosmetics / T to equip taunts.
Main Menu now works with any hud (+Matchmaking) and is (in theory) unbreakable, while adding additional useful buttons and still looking similar to the default hud:
- alternatives/mainmenu_custom_buttonactions.res
- alternatives/mainmenu_custom_buttons.res
- alternatives/mainmenu_widescreen.res (optional, moves buttons to the left)
- resource/ui/mainmenuoverride.res + default_hudfiles/resource/ui/mainmenuoverride.res
- resource/gamemenu.res + default_hudfiles/resource/gamemenu.res

This hud looks so sexy. I especially love the small but notable things, like the additional main menu buttons, additional medic info in the competitive spectator ui (with custom medigun symbols), non-intrusive taunt selection, hq item image integration, and rainbow performance report bars.
I'm really digging it
