I'm thinking of buying the BYOC for i58, but I don't think I'm good enough to even compete to do decently. At most, I'm probably low / medium mid. Also, if someone could roughly explain how the LANs work as a spec, that would be great! :D Thanks
You should just bring it anyway if it's possible for you to do. Playing on LAN is a thing you should experience if you never have before.
There's a lot of lower level teams at an event like i-series, usually 25-30 teams signed up of which only 8 are in the invite bracket. Besides, you have 6 months to get better to be at that kind of level.
i went to GXL 2 years ago cause it was hyped to be one of the biggest north american LANs and I lived not that far away from PA. I went and had a fucking blast. I had only ever played in UGC steel 6s and silver HL.
it doesn't matter if you blow dicky at the game. you can still have a fuckton of fun at a LAN and I really wish I was able to go to GXL this fall.

playing at LAN is so much more fun than playing online, you'll regret it if you don't
Meet dudes that you play with/know of online and have never met before - that's probably the best thing about LAN tbh.
Depending on how they are with their filesharing (some AUS LAN's it's a nope) you can always do some of that, too.
