Terrible fps in matchmaking

I've been getting very low frames in matchmaking on my laptop. I normally have around 150 frames with a config and now i have like 20-30. I've tried playing with absolute default settings with no configs/hud/hitsound/anything custom, reinstalled tf2, verified game files, etc. My desktop runs matchmaking fine just my laptop is struggling. I noticed my console keeps printing an error message only on my laptop and only in matchmaking that reads ShaderAPIDX8::CreateD3DTexture: Invalid color format! I tried google to no avail. Any help would be appreciated!

Chances are we are just as clueless as you are if this is a new thing since the matchmaking update.

But try updating your drivers, it always helps.

why would you play with default things, how would that help your fps at all

your fps is probably bad because you are attempting to run the game with effectively no configs and dx9 (because of matchmaking)

I've been having this exact same problem. From the shit fps to the console spam. Some people on Reddit and the steam forums have the same issues but no one has any idea how to fix it.

well matchmaking seems to force you into dx9 and doesn't allow some things in fps configs so i tried default. I was just trying anything tbh haha

and no its not because of no config and dx9 because my laptop runs pubs with 32 players fine without a config and on dx9.
