Me and my friend came up with an idea for a heavy item that could make it almost useful in 6s without slowing the game down. The item would be some sort of shield or shoes or something.
Primary Weapon (wich would force the heavy to use secondary)
+35% movement speed while not being healed
-33% Overheal
-12% Movement speed while being healed
The +35% movement speed would make the heavy just a bit slower than a medic but could get to mid pretty quickly, but as his speed goes down while being healed it would mean that he wouldn't be overhealed as he reaches mid so you wont have a 450 hp just tanking all the damage. The idea for the penalty when being healed is so your medic wont be always healing the heavy because this would make him too slow. The -33% overheal is so if the medic decides to keep healing the heavy even though he becomes very slow he wont be able to wipe the entire other team.
This of course requires that all the weapons that make heavy faster get removed such as the GRU, disciplinary action, eviction notice, because otherwise this weapon would be completely usless.
Please tell me what you think about this idea.

This is certainly a creative idea, but Valve will never ever remove items from the game.

Yes but you have to think about how a weapon will play not only in 6v6, but also pub play since that is still such a big part of TF2.

The speed buff could be made unstackable with other speed buffs. That mechanic already exists on scout, the bfb and crit a cola don't stack

+x% movement speed
no thanks
+x% movement speed
no thanks
You should just play scout at that point.
I mean come on, it forces him to use secondary weapon, gives him speed boost + less overheal. Isn't that just a gimped scout?

Two wrongs don't make a right. Ideally Valve fixes broken weapons eventually.

The resulting heavy is an engineer with 300 health and no buildings and bad healing. A buffed soldier also has 300 health, but he has a rocket launcher. I'll take the soldier please.

We honestly should be looking to change the current weapons that we have in the game right now, rather than trying to add more things to the game. I feel like these stats would be better as a proposed change to some pre-existing weapon as opposed to the introduction of something new. I love new weapons, but there are just so many out there right now that it just seems like focusing on individual changes right now are the better option

-33% overheal means 400 hp fully buffed. Your points are otherwise valid though.

Can't you just break the scout's legs and force twinkies down his throat for the same results?

fully buffed yes, but he's not gonna be buffed ever because the speed penaltymakes healing him super unattractive (you can keep 2 soldiers buffed or buff the heavy)
