Has anyone else noticed that HL players are more prone to having unusuals and australiums
MikeMatyou aren't seeing them on TFTV streams because STV doesn't show unusual effects
GasolUnusual effects don't show up in STV.
When was the last time you watched a TFTV stream? Unusuals have been disabled (or broken) on STVs at some point, but that issue has been gone for a long time. I haven't gone through all the VODs, but unusuals have been definetely workin since i55 (just look at b4nny/duwatna/shade, whenever either appears in a third person view).
In fact, there are players with unusuals. I counted 14 in ETF2L Prem at least (from active rosters). Also from my limited experience of watching top AU TF2 (haven't really watched anything but ego vs jasmine tea), it felt like more than half of those two teams combined had unusual hats/weapons or both.
Also in case op is asking this question after seeing all CSGO pros with tons of expensive skins and knives each, the difference between them and TF2 players is that they're getting skins for free from their sponsors.

I'm already pretty sexy with my Ellis Cap + Professor Speks and to be honest I'd rather not be really fucking noticeable whilst trying to go for a flank as roamer
when you think about it, that TF2 was able to make a system of "pay lots of money, and we'll give you items that make it much more likely for people on the opposing team to notice you" and actually be profitable is a wild act of ingenuity

a lot of them buy their own skins but they actually get a salary from playing
and skins don't give away hiding spots

There aren't that many hiding spots, where you can barely see a hiding enemy, unless he wears an unusual (they need to be quite dark to make the difference). TF2 player models contrast to the environment unlike CSGO ones, so it's not that big of a deal. Yeah, you might spot someone a bit earlier if he's got an unusual (also highly depends on the effect), but most of the time it won't make a big difference.

because if you have unusuals then you are vulnerable to being called a trader
i've noticed a trend of only bad steel players having unusuals
