Anyone here into fishing? Any fish you particularly like catching?
Caught these yesterday
I mean this was just funny of course

And this pike was actually a very decent catch, I didn't have anything to measure it with except for my feet but my guess is somewhere between 90-100cm

I fish without a permit as well, but there are some good spots where nobody will ever check on you. Fishing tickets are quite expensive tho

I've only fished once in my life, but it was a very good and happy moment for me cause it was peaceful and therapeutic I learned about fishing, and basically caught a nice yellow perch and a small mouth bass. I wish I could give you a picture but I don't.

Perch are very nice, also I definitely agree with the peaceful and therapeutic part. I love going out fishing alone for hours usually, and just put my phone on airplane mode, it's a great way to think

It's like 20 for a year in Ohio idk where you all fish

TurinIt's like 20 for a year in Ohio idk where you all fish
It's roughly 40 dollars here for a year, but that is not the problem, the problem is that the permit doesn't cover all water, and if you don't live near a lake or river then you can be fucked over quite easily by the rules.

I do deep sea fishing once a year with some family friends. Can't call it a hobby because we don't do it enough, and the pricetag on the equipment I've seen was giant, but I wish I did it more. Anyone got any advice for getting more into fishing without going broke?

It depends on what you want to fish on, you can get a nice pike fishing set with a few plugs below a 100 easily

Nice catch! And yeah catfish get huge here in the rivers as well, I never caught one above 1.20 meters but in the river Maas they grow up to 2 meters. True monsters if you ask me.

Have been fishing my entire life. Second biggest pike I ever caught: http://i.imgur.com/HykKp2E.png
We mostly go pickerel (walleye) fishing up on the Ottawa.
(We bbq'd the pike).

Pike doesn't taste that great tho imo but nice catch! My grandfather used to grind meatballs of the meat and it was ok, but personally I always throw them back.

I think it depends on where you catch them. I have had pike that didn't taste that great out of a lake we used to fish so we always threw them back. They were really strong and bitter tasting almost. We kept one a few years prior out of the river and tried to bbq it and it turned to be pretty tasty. We only ever bbq them now. Small ones are not worth trying to clean.

Yeah I guess it does, usually when I catch fish and want to eat them I let them swim in tap water for a day, really changes the taste, this especially goes for eels which are bottom feeders.

I've fished maybe once, but I was too young to remember anything about it. The idea of fishing seems pretty neat. I wouldn't mind getting on a boat, going to some fishing area, having a few beers and chatting it up with a friend while we wait and then have an intense fight to reel the fucker in. I'd probably let the little guy go as I'm not too into eating fish, but the entire concept seems like a fun time. It's, in reality, possibly boring as shit and I don't have any ability to actually do any of this, so who knows.

remember one day me and my dad decided to go fishing, we went to buy rods and other stuff then drove to our country house that had that small river nearby, it was early in the morning and although I didn't catch anything while he caught like one or two fishes that was a blast
I really gotta take him out and do it again, ty for reminding
