Hey guys!
When ever I attempt to open tf2, a hl2.exe error automatically pops up when I get to the main menu. I've defraged and verified my cache file many times and it has not helped.

When ever I attempt to open tf2, a hl2.exe error automatically pops up when I get to the main menu. I've defraged and verified my cache file many times and it has not helped.

When ever I attempt to open tf2, a hl2.exe error automatically pops up when I get to the main menu. I've defraged and verified my cache file many times and it has not helped.

If you have a custom hud sometimes the main menu can do that sometimes. Make sure you delete your hud or any files in your hud relating to the main menu and try again.

good start is to back up all your custom files (/cfg, /resource, /scripts, /maps, hitsound), delete entire tf folder and then launch TF2 again which will regenerate a default tf2 installation from your GCF files (which should be valid if you defragged/validated). Assuming that doesn't crash, then add your custom stuff back in one at a time and if it crashes at a certain point there's your problem.
