For me it's a tossup between Italy and Norway.
Norway is fucking gorgeous and Italian food is incredible.

the country I enjoyed going to the most for a vacation was the country of Africa.
visited Alaska for a month, went gold panning, fishing, glacier-walking, picked wild berries, helped my dad tear down a house and skin a black bear. Bear meat is surprisingly good, don't cook past medium rare, though. Went in July, the sun barely went down, sky wasn't dark until 2 a.m. Also went whitewater rafting in Maine and Yellowstone, definitely something worth trying.
I've been to a couple of countries (Europe and Near East) and from those I visited I liked Austria and Switzerland the most. There's quite a lot of intersting stuff plus the lakes are lovely.
most of the southern half of this state is gorgeous, although favorite vacation is Kobarid in Slovenia.
Vietnam was awesome, it's such a friendly country. I had a great time just walking around the cities aimlessly.
The remnants of the war are startling as well.

Went to China a year ago and stuff in China is dirt cheap compared to America
Ice Cream for the equivalent of 16 cents.
Bottled water for 50~ cents
I'll probably grow a third arm or something, but whatever.

Cuba. Just got back from my third vacation there. Nicest people on the planet, incredible weather and awesome landscapes. Not to mention the fucking rum... it's incredible. Crime rates are low and you can have peace of mind knowing their healthcare is above average for a developing country.
Not everyone can visit Cuba though, if you're not Canadian, Mexican, or European it's a difficult process. I know they've started letting American tourists in but it's only flights from Miami to Cuban itl' airports atm and there's some hefty fee or something.
