Hey everyone,
this probably isn't the place to ask this but whatever.
so i was thinking of playing some older games because i have been watching a lot of speedruns lately of Siglemic and others. i was wondering what system i should get, and what games are good on that system.
thanks banana

I think it kinda depends on your age to what system you want to play. I grew up in the 80s, so I still have all my systems from atari to PS3. I love paying Nintendo games, but I do understand that not everyone is going to enjoy that amount of frustration. If you don't understand what I mean, try playing Ghosts n Goblins, Battletoads, or Silver Surfer.
I would just DL a few emulators and go nuts, try all the systems. Right now G4 is doing top 100 games of all time, so you can watch that to get some idea since it's multi-platform

You should do speedruns of old shareware games for DOS
Commander Goddamn Keen

SNATCHER on Sega CD is still one of my favorite games of all time
I really enjoy Final Fight and Streets of Rage playthroughs, even though speedruns for beat 'em up games get a little redundant.

If ur computer is good enough to run emulators u should just get a usb controller for the systems u want to play then get the roms, itll save you money and time trying to find older systems

SNES has an amazing amount of amazing games, a full list would take a while. And if you're interested in speed running, get super metroid. It's a great game (one of my favorites) and has one of the biggest speed running communities out there.
a quick list of good snes games
mario world, zelda 3, mega man X, super metroid, super contra, donkey kong country, contra 3, Gradius 3, super r-type, chrono trigger, final fantasy 6(3 on the box), zombies ate my neighbors
