6v6 player survey

Hey guys for my research project I am answering the question "What does it take to become an amateur/ or professional gamer and what does it take to obtain and improve that level". Yes I am still refining the actual question but basically I am doing a decent proportion of my work around tf2 as I have more experience here than any other game. With this survey I will be giving it out to everyone to do at first then I have a separate one that I will give to premier/ or invite players to be able to compare and show the difference between a normal player and a "pro" player. Yes I know the top level players just mainly practice and put more effort into the game but I need to actually be able to show that to my teacher.

The survey: http://polljunkie.com/poll/wmmjqq/6v6-player-poll

Note: There are a few mistakes in there which for some reason it will not let me fix them so sorry about that.

Thanks for taking part if you did.

Could you be more specific about the categories into which you are dividing players? You say "amateur" and "professional," but there is only one professional TF2 player. Everyone else is an amateur. Are you just looking at competitive players or also at pub players? What about competitive players who play UGC instead of ESEA? What about retired players?

(Also, Google Forms works pretty well for polls. PollJunkie sucks if it doesn't let you fix mistakes in the poll.)

Hey, when saying "professional" I guess I am just talking about premier/ or invite players. I understand technically it is not professional. For the surveys I am only looking at competitive players but I am doing some experiments with a majority of pub players. Which I can explain it to you if you like but its pretty long too. With UGC 6v6 I just assumed in NA and EU it was not taken as seriously as at least other here I feel like UGC 6v6 is a joke. That is why in the survey I only put the options for Invite/prem, High, Intermediate and open. I have not really thought about doing something to do with retired players. I feel like I have not answered your questions properly. I would consider maybe including some of those questions within my research but I feel like with all the other stuff I am organizing for it I may run out of time. Thanks for some ideas.

Generally a pretty decent survey :)
I think a good question to ask is "do you believe fps configs and r_drawviewmodel command should be allowed in matchmaking?"
So that valve can realise that nearly the entire fucking community doesn't understand why they are locked

I think the fact that 46% of the people for my 6v6 survey and 43% for my highlander survey shows that they must have done something wrong. Like pretty much half of the community does not play matchmaking and the half that said they did probably played it only that day and never touched it again. But its supposed to be 6v6 matchmaking and more highlander people play it according to my surveys. I think I might make a separate survey with that question. The problem is that the competitive community is actually a small part of the whole tf2 player base so really they are making competitive for the casual people that probably wont even play it because they just get rolled every game because there is no rank calibration. It is just sad that something we wanted forever is something that we almost wish never happened but I guess its a step in the right direction we just need to try get our voices heard. Maybe if we could also get normal players saying they want fps configs and r_drawviewmodel command etc maybe that would make valve change it.

I don't know that you wouldn't see similar numbers in CSGO among ESEA players tbf

Likely for different reasons, but success with existing comp communities isnt success with the main playerbase

I think that's one of the biggest issues with matchmaking. We want that pyro with 150 hours in the game to be playing matchmaking over and over again, but even pubstompers will push the newer playerbase out of matchmaking. Compare that to CS GO where even the newest of players have a place to go in matchmaking.
