Laptop wont wake up?

Sometimes my laptop will go to sleep, it won't wake up. This doesn't happen every time and it gets really annoying cuz I have to force it to shut down and turn it on again. Has anyone experienced this? I don't want to have to restart my laptop and open all of my apps again.

is it overheating? Mine did that all the time until I got a fan, check if it is getting really hot.
