did you try to get on a team in the newbie mix team drive? wouldve been the best option imo

not trying to be rude but if teams arent picking you up its because you arent good enough. if i were you, i would tryout for low-mid teams.

Yeah, you really can't blame mid-high teams (who are presumably trying to make playoffs) for not wanting to pick up a player with no open experience. Playing on a low-mid team is where you should start with open, or you could do what I did and just make your own team if no one is picking you up (you'd be cutting it close to the reg deadline but you could try)

To clarify, I did try for lower teams this week. Same result. I did try for lower teams last season too, as stated above.

Also, with the lower teams I tried on, I had a miserable time. Soldiers wouldn't know when/how to jump. Scouts fail to hit easy meatshots. Demos complain that I let them die even though they overextend. Stuff like that was what happened last pre-season, and with every lower Open team I've tried for. Maybe I have bad luck.

Maybe I should, but I thought it was for people who have little competitive experience in general, not just little ESEA experience.

Well like I said, no one gave me much criticisms ever. So, I have no idea how to improve if I don't receive feedback. I also don't know how good I am if most of the responses are along the lines of "you were pretty solid." Most of these experiences were from this season, with teams looking to be in playoffs, and a couple of Mid-Open teams.

This is why I'm confused.

it'd be a season long effort probably to teach you everything they want you to know/be able to do.

so you'd probably benefit from getting experience on basically any team you can get that's not gonna die, which means lowering your expectations from mid-high to low-mid teams.

Also I can understand why it's hard to find a team to get the experience you need to find a team, which is why suggestions like making your own team or joining newbie mix teams are really good.

For example with myself and a few friends, we pretty much knew we were nobodies, so we tested the waters with our own sixes team, called it egg salad dressing, worked our asses off and eventually made our existence known, which led to tryouts for some of our members for s23, now that the team has sadly parted.

Hoping to get the easy route of landing a spot on an established team right off the bat with no history is honestly something that could only come through a ton of raw talent, a ton of luck, or a ton of circle jerking.

Something I've learned about playing in the tf2 community though is that networking as a social skill actually is important, even if you don't view it that way. Make friends, join pugs and try and make sure people get a good feeling for how good you are as a player and as a person.

if you played well and you didnt get picked up, it's probably a personality issue

this post makes it seem like you tend to look down on teammates, which comes through in how you talk to them whether you think it does or not

you might be a great tf2 player but if you can't create a social circle then you'll just end up like the dozens on dozens of skilled players who haven't done anything notable ever

I personally don't think I talk in that way. I only ever talk during in-game comms, and then I'm silent. Also, I'm probably monotone, so maybe I just have shit social skills.

how did u get 20 tryouts i cant even get 3 every season

I have no life and I added people for literally every LFP post I saw. Also, maybe because it was the summer season, so more new players were getting into Open.
