Streamers: Opinion on Adblockers?

How much does disabling ABP really help a streamer? Do you, the streamers, care if your viewers use them? I'm sure we would all prefer not to disable them.

Does anyone else disable ad blocking software for tf2 streamers?

I have tried turning off my adblock for certain sites that I would like to support. Though the feature is too difficult for me to use.

Do we even have any streamers that actively run commercials?

Every time I turn on a stream I get at least one commercial. I don't know if the streamer is choosing the ads, but they are there.

Occasionally Twitch will run ads. If a streamer runs ads (from my experience) it's manually triggered.

It runs an ad when you first open the stream. I don't mind enabling ads to support streamers, but it gets kind of annoying when I end up having to watch the ad multiple times because of refreshing or changing size/resolution.

Off the top of my head the only people who have partner with Twitch are Seanbud, Lange, stabbystabby, teamfortresstv, extelevision, maybe truktruk and misterslin, not sure. Only the people that have partner will see any money from Twitch, and even then, Lange has been streaming over a year and has yet to accrue enough ad revenue to get a check. The ads you see on everyone else's streams don't support the streamer.

That being said, I don't block ads on Twitch regardless of who has partner or not. If I can't support the streamer, I'll still support the company. E-sports has exploded in the last few years almost as a direct result of their success.

I personally turn my adbloock off for streams.
I don't imagine a single person turning adblock on would affect a streamer that much... But if everyone thinks that way, then the streamers will make a significant amount less, obviously.

If you really do enjoy that person's streams (And why would you be watching them, if you didn't?) there really is no reason to keep adblock on. It's supporting your favourite streamers and costing you nothing but 30 seconds of your time.

I've got my adblock deactivated on Twitch and all sites I want to support. That bit of advertisement or the 30s clips do not hurt me at all and I can always mute them anyway...

Running Adblock is fine IMO. Especially for streaming sites. The only people that make real money off streaming are people with consistent 1000+ viewers (that also run ads somewhat frequently). If you're just browsing through channels and you have to wait for a 30 second ad every time it does get annoying. Plus we're playing friggin video games, it's not an actual job.

I disable adblock for the particular streamers I like to watch. This goes for any site, really.
