A year ago my computer was able to run tf2 smoothly(idk about fps because I was a retard pubber) even with 32-players severs filled with retarded effects(think saxton hale shooting out 50 rockets) and no config. So I know that my computer with its current hardware SHOULD be able to run tf2 decently. But recently, I've been getting like 40 fps average with drops to 20 even on 12 player servers with Comanglia's config on, so idk anymore. I suspect that it's just me not taking care of my computer properly and filling it up with junk. Can anyone link me a guide or something to cleaning up my PC? (Keep in mind I literally have no experience with this stuff)

specs? Cleaning out a pc certainly helps, but also you could have a bunch of other junk in your computer over a course of a year that slows your overall computer performance.

Simple steps include
1) Check system temperatures using tools like MSI Afterburner and CoreTemp. If temps are bad check to make sure that fans are spinning and heat sinks are properly mounted. Change thermal paste if needed.
2) Use a shop vac on blower mode to blow the dust out of your computer..
3) Run system maintenance and malware removal tools like MalwareBytes/ADW cleaner/ Hitman Pro.
4) Run disk cleanup.

Tbh I doubt that junk actually slows down your PC that much in a fullscreen game. It might very well just be Valve performance.
But maybe it's not in that case fuck cleaning ur PC and do

it's so much easier. After u copy over all your files, defrag with ultimate defrag if you like and if you're gaming from an HDD.
Also you can use Ninite to safely and easily install essential tools after your reinstall without fear of adware and outdated programs.

Hunter go to your settings and reset it from there, it has helped me many times, just reset it whenever a new problem arises (this will take 6+ hours for most computers)
