I have been trying to play comp / casual matchmaking with a couple friends from Asia. However, whenever I queue with them, we happen to end in the queue forever. Since we started trying we haven't managed to play a single game – this only happens when us North-American and Asian friends queue. I have queued with only american friends and everything is just fine, same when I queue alone.
Someone told me to try and play around with our download regions and we did but it didn't give any better results. Is there actually something one can do to improve this?

Nope, sadly. The Matchmaking system is completely shit for players queuing from different regions.
Now we just have to wait for region selection, if it ever happens.
