The main reason a lot of designers stick with Apple is because they're used to using the operating system, and the screens are dope. The people at the photography studio I work at have definitely paid attention to this though.
I just linked them this video and one boss said "yeah but it's windows not mac" and the other said "i want it sooo much".

They've litterally just annunced it. Shouldn't we at least wait a bit before saying "apple make it better"?

Apple has simply not made the jump to make computers with touchscreens or convertible tablets, which is a little bit weird considering they've had the "creatives" market for a while.
This is really cool.

Oh man, this would be perfect for me [if I could afford it].
I've worked with Cintiqs in my school labs and I've always been a Windows user. I do have a Macbook Pro for portability that I can hook up to my computer but I admit I never got used to the OS no matter how many times I've used iMacs. This will definitely be something I'm looking into especially for industry work if I decide not to invest in a Cintiq HD.

What a rip off, pay 2k more for $500 worth of hardware in the same non-upgradable form and same cooling solution.
Designers are going to continue to build PCs, and bootcamp macs.

Cintiq 27QHD is the industry standard touch display and sells for $2800 for only just the display, the Surface Studio is starting at $3000 and it includes a computer.
You're just wrong about everything

Firei dont (want to) believe that the majority of designers are using mac because of the mac cases (or hardware in general ...) , but because of the software. i believe that few will make the change to the surface, but it might make windows more attractive for newcomers.
I'm not a designer, but I don't really know if that's the case. Windows is very intuitive to use as it is (as much as mac users like to talk shit, I don't know anyone who switched to windows from mac and found it hard) and for the sake of design software, offers basically everything a mac does (there is some mac exclusive software but all the major industry standards I know (adobe tools, fontlab studio) and their free alternatives (gimp, fontforge) supports windows). For that matter the art school my friend goes to has this dumb rule where they need to buy macs, but then go bootcamp them to windows because some software they use is windows exclusive (while nothing's mac exclusive).
I think it's entirely because Apple has specs for designers and designers who usually aren't technical don't have to deal with all picking between the different hardware options windows computers have. That and the status quo, art schools tend to have their people trained in using macs by convention (historically better for graphics, look nicer), so art students tend to learn macs, so the industry usually uses macs unless they have a reason not to.
It's hard to break an industry standard but it looks like the surface studio will address all of that, if it's done well I do think it'd get adopted by art schools and if anything it should be even easier to use with accessibility tools like that dial thing.

It clearly states that it will be using laptop parts. Small form factors are prone to thermal throttling issues. Something Apple's similar iMac suffers from.

I know some very tech savvy artists who use mac because of the operative system. Pretty sure that's what fire meant by "software".

WOW that was fucking hard.
The M means MOBILE :O
Considering it is clearly using a mobile GPU it is probably also using a mobile variant of the i5/7. This also makes sense in the context of it's form factor. A desktop CPU in that form factor would either be very loud or very hot and from what i can see from the pictures it clearly doesn't have the necessary ventilation. Have you ever seen a laptop with a desktop CPU? The entire back is a huge open vent and they sound like a jet engine.

Truly amazing reading skills coupled with infallible logic. Aristotle himself couldn't have constructed such a formally coherent proof.
Srsly though fuck ur attitude, you tell me "you can't read, it clearly states on this page" then base your argument on what you think could be the hardware, based on what the thing looks like, because it actually doesn't clearly state shit on the page and you don't have the balls to admit that u misread and confused the mobile GPU for mobile CPU.

Logical conclusions based upon available evidence? It clearly says M on the GPU and the total lack of ventilation means that a desktop CPU in that system would be totally illogical.
Also you are the one who said i contradicted the written specs and claimed i couldn't read.
