Faster cp_sunshine demoman rollout

I know it's not sunshine week but here's something to maybe consider as a demoman if your team is headed into playoffs

Here's a clip of the rollout from the FACEIT cup, done by sigh: https://clips.twitch.tv/teamfortresstv/HelpfulHerringRaccAttack

Note: this only works on official sunshine. The first ramp that I surf up into top lobby is only present in the official version. Without this, this rollout is not possible at all.

I've also made a tutorial for anyone struggling to learn this, which can be found here and/or here

I'm also using a custom rollout script that I made for this so it's to be noted obviously that this isn't 100 percent ideal, especially if your first jump puts you out of the healing range of your medic, but I'm not going to worry about that.

Thoughts?

I also tried that exact same rollout but I suck at 6s(I just jump) so I don't know if it's really viable

Honestly, Sunshine is a map that doesn't really reward the demo getting there early in the same way Gully or Badlands can.

Getting to mid faster is never a bad idea.

well in the past there hasn't been much of a reward to getting to mid early on this map since the old rollout and way to mid was the only way that people really went

Bumping since playoffs are around the corner for many leagues

Anyone tried this out yet in any scrims or pugs? I'd certainly like to hear how things have gone if anyone has managed to try this out

If people are still having a lot of trouble hitting the jumps I could try and throw together a poorly edited video explaining the jumps also

Last thing, I edited the original post with a pastebin of my rollout practice cfg in case anyone is interested in using the rollout script that I made. There's also a link here to it

This is good, however I think a lot of demos prefer to go valley or maybe cafe because of the extra pack. Are there any adjustments to the rollout that would allow people to go valley/cafe faster maybe?

Yeah, I believe so. I'll try and illustrate a path with poorly drawn arrows with Scottish resistance stickies.

For getting into valley, a simple floor jump off of the battlements into valley should suffice. I just ran times going the standard route to valley and the faster route into valley, and there was roughly a 3 second difference between the two. Times I recorded were 9:43 (faster) vs 9:40 (standard) on round timer. https://gyazo.com/043455f793a38258671a64c3fa3511ae

As of writing this I haven't thought much of a café rollout since I feel like a rollout to café would be significantly slower and you may even run the risk of having a soldier or scout getting a potential early pick onto you since you don't see where everything is until you're out from the overhang that leads into mid from café.

If it's really that big of a deal I can run some trials but I personally have never seen much use for a café rollout. It's entirely possible that I may be wrong about it not having much use so if I am wrong someone please correct me

Bumping since I've finally gotten around to making a tutorial video for this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF1cxtEG8dI&feature=youtu.be

I tried to be as thorough with what I was explaining as possible in the least amount of time, despite the video being 13 minutes long. I stuttered on a few words here and there as well, but it wasn't worth it in my mind to re-record things.

I made this since I've seen many demos try and fail miserably at this, so hopefully this video can help walk people through the jumps with a thorough explanation. I also edited and cleaned up the OP so it wasn't just a big wall of text
