Some things interesting to note is that many of these players are already qualified for Capcom Cup. This means that Tse4444 has a very high chance of getting into Capcom Cup if any of these players win. These players being GamerBee, Mago, Eita, Go1, MOV, Kazunoko, Xian, and Sako.
If Ricki Ortiz won John Takeuchi would be in as well from the NA leaderboards.
Currently the players in Top 8 that need to win in order to get into Capcom Cup are Haitani, Itazan, and Bonchan. If any of these players win then Tse4444 is out, respectively.

Can someone explain why the character diversity in this game is so trash. Like top 8 is either chun li, necalli, or mika, which are all top tier broken ass characters. Do players just have more incentive to main broken characters for money?

One major reason is that while everyone picked their character at the start of the year while feeling out the game they sorta put the most time into them. Many people have different characters but either A) Don't trust them enough or B) Don't have enough experience in the match ups.
There's also the fact that there is basically 3-4 tournaments every weekend which sorta makes people keep playing with their most trusted character. There is just not enough time for experimentation. As for Chun, Necalli, and Mika though? Chun is just the best character, not much reason to switch if you started with her. Necalli is damn good as well. However Mika is a little weird in that yeah she's stupid good but the only people that have used her super well are either Evo Champions or NuckleDu. Other than that I haven't seen any other Mika's in top 8 from like April onward.
Also to note that the top 3 seeds in this tournament all went 0-2. Momochi, Sako, Mago, and GamerBee all went 1-2. Crazy crazy tournament.
Also MOV is looking absolutely unstoppable, so is Du. Interesting that they're the 1st match tomorrow. Really a toss up on who will win, and even which character Du will use. I think Guile does well against Chun-Li but Du's Mika is super explosive as well.
In any case it should be great for tomorrow and the rest of the night.
