Hello,

I was trying to make the old crosshair combo that clockwork and yz50 used :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMQQ6Tx3Nsg

But every time I tried to line up the hud crosshair with the regular tf2 crosshair, they would never line up. Even the smallest adjustments could not fix it.. How did clock get it so perfectly aligned in this video?

1. Are you using the correct font? There are many variations of the KonrWings crosshair, depending on the font and glyph that you use. I believe clockwork and yz50 just used the crosshair font included in broeselhud, but this thread links to this font.

2. Are you using the correct settings? There could be discrepancies in the clientscheme ("tall," "weight") or in the hudlayout/wherever the crosshair is drawn (size, "xpos," "ypos," "zpos," "tall," "wide"), as well as your in-game crosshair scale. I don't know what settings clock/yz50 used, so you'll probably have to eyeball it.

3. It could also be your resolution; yz50 used 1024x768, although the resolution during rendering was probably different. Not sure what clockwork used.

If you still can't resolve your issue, you may want to look into drawing VTF crosshairs so you won't have to align two separate elements.

Thank you for the detailed and informative response. I'll check up on all of these things before posting in the thread again.

If you try Eric's steps to no avail, VTF crosshairs are still an option for you. The particular crosshair you're after has already been drawn and is included in the pack available here under the name wingsdot. This pack also comes with all the weapon script files that you will need to set to wingsdot. If you try using this pack and it works for you then you can skip to the NOTE at the end of the post :-)

Alternatively, if the above pack doesn't satisfy, you could try using nick_'s version available here. Though this is an individual VTF, you will still have to define it in each of the weapon script files (link courtesy of _Kermit) as yz51 (yz51 is the name of the VTF/VMT files - not a typo).

The VTF/VMT files directory:
Show Content
tf\custom\x\materials\vgui\replay\thumbnails
The weapon script files directory:
Show Content
tf\custom\x\scripts

NOTE: If you are currently using the no explosions smoke script you will already have weapon script files for some weapons. You will need to combine these with new ones you have created. Steps to do this are available here.

As a quick note, this particular version of konrwings has a different shape than the crosshair used by yz50/clockwork, as well as being outlined and fully opaque. Not sure what nick_'s version looks like.

can't someone versed in making .vtf crosshair just stack the scout's default one with the konr wings from the video/font? I know I'm being picky but using other wings always felt weird, they're either curved differently or a lot thiner.

yeah unefortunately that version isn't what I'm looking for, the yz50 wings have a better shape.

It is possible for me to make small microasjustments to the in game crosshair? or shift the position of the hud crosshair?
