doubleclick OS issue?

Hey all,

I thought my logitech g500 was dying because it started doubleclicking on me. So I tried out a basically never used zowie fk1, but it seems like they're both doubleclicking? I'm wondering if there's anything software-wise that could be causing it.

I used this test, but I'm not sure how reliable it is:

http://unixpapa.com/js/testmouse.html

I also tried a couple of other various things in-browser, like clicking on tweets and seeing if the text was highlighted, but that didn't happen to the zowie, so it might be a hardware issue with the g500 but i'm eliminating everything else first

Maybe update drivers?
Then again, two different mouse companies...

I guess it might be worth a try

Definitely update your drivers, when was the last time you reinstalled your OS?

VulcanDefinitely update your drivers, when was the last time you reinstalled your OS?

Around a year ago? I'm not especially a fan of it.
I haven't updated my OS in a bit though, i'll also try that

Also, I don't think the g500 has new drivers released anymore

I'm on windows 8.1 btw

the thing is i'm not sure about the reliability of this page because it reports doubleclicks on my zowie which hasn't doubleclicked anywhere else. testing the g500 on another comp now

i should probably just get used to the zowie cause g500s cost a million dollars now and i'm way too used to the accel and 1100 dpi that i had on it

Make a backup of your important files on google drive, then make a windows 8.1 USB. Then let it update. If you need more information on this I can provide you a link, reinstalling your OS at least once a month is crucial to keeping your computer in "shape"

it was definitely mechanical, i did the hotfix of unplugging and then clicking it a bunch of times

also i'm not installing windows 10 lol, and reinstalling once every month is insane

unless you prep an enterprise LTSB ISO to completely remove cortana & other miscellaneous performance hogging bullshit, i wouldn't touch windows 10 with a 10-foot pole.

also, that site was registering double-clicks erroneously for me (two quick clicks wouldn't register as a double-click, but two delayed single-clicks would). you need a different (preferably low-level) testing suite. i have a few programs i used a while back to properly vet mouse performance; i'll send them to you after finals.

Lol didnt mean to say win 10 edited it. And reinstalling once a month is to make sure nothing breaks, you could probably get away with more than that if you treat your computer right. Even if the problem isnt with your computer i defintely reccomend reinstalling your OS, only good can come out of it
