Looking to upgrade my GPU to a 7970/680/2 cards in crossfire/sli. Who has recommendations for around 400$?
Edit : Looking for specific manufacturer models (EVGA, Saphire, Galaxy, etc.)

You just named them.
I will put this out there, 2 x 660 SC > 1 680 @ ~20$ off with coupon.
dMenaceYou just named them.
I think he/she meant specific models (e.g. MSI GeForce GTX 660Ti Power Edition)
One card is generally better than two cards in SLI/Crossfire.

What he said, dual cards is still considered more trouble than its worth
MSI 660TI Power Edition x2 if you want the best performance for your buck.
Running 2 GPUs can be a pain in the dick. If you're willing to trouble shoot and deal with driver issues every once in a while, it's not so bad. I run 2x 680s and I've only had a few issues over the last year.

I looked into it, and the 2x MSI 660TI Powers are 299$ each :c That's out of my range :(
save money and buy a used gtx580 for way less money and wait for the 700 series... i hit 1000 fps in tf2 with my gtx580 and i dont even have a config, just default max settings.

Looking at a wall maybe.
(I have 2x 680s and I'll still drop to 120-130 FPS in a pub)
DrewJust get a single 680.
Not worth the price. 660ti PE gets you nearly the same performance for significantly less $.
You usually only want to get 2-3 cards if you want to max out multiple displays. Otherwise you are introducing unnecessary system instability.
Don't know why you got downfragged sweet_tooth, I picked up a used gtx580 off of eBay for literally a fraction of the cost of its 600 series counterpart. The dude I got it from used them in SLI testing and were pretty much brand new.
In your case, OP, I would definitely go for last years GPU at half the price. You could even wait a few months for nvidia to release their 7 series gpus, then pick up the 6 series for cheaper.

I run a HD4890 and never drop below 200 in pubs, ever (unless I'm streaming). Keep in mind this game is more CPU intensive so your money might be better invested there instead of getting 2 GPUs.
If you're just doing this for general gaming just get a single kickass card. It's a lot easier and helps with heat management.
I have an EVGA 680 Superclocked, the one with two fans. I forget what they call it. There are like 14 variants of the 680 by EVGA but they are all great. I have had zero problems with it...so far. It was a tad more than $400—480 IIRC but that was a few months ago.
I honsetly don't think my PSU has enough juice to support 2x 660 Ti
Everyone needs to look at how TF2 runs once again, this game is way more CPU intensive than GPU; and all computer components need to be taken into consideration instead of just weighing the GPU over all of them. If you're playing TF2 a mid-high range card is fine AKA the 660 Ti.

I was looking for a card in general, not for TF2. My GTX 650 runs it fine, since it's CPU intensive, but I get 20 FPS in AC3 @ Max Settings 1600x900. I went with an XFX 7870 clocked @ 1.1 GHZ for my upgrade.
