My tf2 is crazy broken

Ok so every time I tab out, every time I shift tab nothing happens, so if I want to see steam messages when I'm ingame I have to tab out and crash.
Does anyone have any idea what's causing this?

had this shit for a month atleast, I was just too lazy to bother with it but it's getting to a point were I need to be able to alt tab

stupid windows 8 does that for me, there's probably a fix to that aswell but the laziness kicks in again
