I have this weird problem where my mic works fine everywhere but in TF2. Steam mic test, steam voice chat (the one via chat window), TS2, Mumble, Discord etc. it works fine and I can hear myself loud and clear.
But in TF2 I have people complaining they can't understand me because I'm so quiet.
Used to tell them they just need to turn up their volume my mic works fine but just now used the mic test thing in the ingame options and it turns out even when I speak loudly you can barely hear anything and it sounds like someone in the next room is talking.
I asked google but didn't find anything that helped (some threads said the new voice codec doesn't work for Mac, but I use Win10).
Usind an external sound card and tried using my on-board sound just to be sure. Even with mic boost on maximum I where my ears hurt when I test the mic outside of TF2, once I try it ingame I can barely hear a thing.
Not sure if it maybe has something to do with my config.
Those are the commands from my config.
Already tried changing all those commands, but not sure what the default value is for all of them or if it's maybe multiple commands that cause the problem.
Removing the entire audio section from my autoexec didn't fix it either.

// Audio
dsp_enhance_stereo 0 // Turns off delays on reverb channels.
dsp_slow_cpu 1 // Turns off processing of dsp_room.
dsp_water 0 // Turns off audio distortion while being underwater.
phonemesnap 0 // Should disable the use of two phonemes.
snd_async_fullyasync 1 // Processes audio playback asynchronized.
snd_async_minsize 262144 // Default is fine.
snd_delay_sound_shift 0.02 // Extra delay for resyncing delayed sounds.
snd_disable_mixer_duck 1 // Turns off processing of ducker volumes.
snd_mix_async 1 // Processes audio mixing asynchronized.
snd_mixahead 0.05 // 50ms delay to keep the audio working as intended.
snd_noextraupdate 1 // Prevents audio slowdown when at low framerates.
snd_pitchquality 0 // Turns off sound interpolation, which makes the audio quality higher.
snd_spatialize_roundrobin 4 // My guess is that it spatializes only 4 channels per frame.
voice_steal 2 // If there isn't a free channel, steal a channel with the least amount of time left to play
Anyone got any idea how I can fix this?

Are your recieve/transmit sliders ingame maxed out?
And when you tried clearing your autoexec, did you launch with -autoconfig and then boot normally?
Also, this belongs in Q&A section.

It may have something to do with the new codec

mitchcliff123It may have something to do with the new codec
there is quite a good chance that it is the codec, we are just confirming the fact

Yeah maybe. But maybe not. And if not I'd really like to know what else the problem is and if I can fix it.
And if it is the codec I'd still wonder if there is maybe some work-around to still use a mic with the new codec.
And if there isn't I would like to get the chance to say "thx volvo, get your shit together!!"
So saying "It might be the codec" doesn't really solve the problem and if anyone has any more input on this I'd love to hear it ;)
