Hello friends!
A job opportunity came up for me and I may be going to Austin, TX very soon. I'm kinda curious about the living costs and housing price to see if it's worthy enough for me to move to the US.
Do you guys know any sites where I can look up the average price for rooms? Any neighborhood I should avoid?
Thanks in advance!

city-data.com - demographics/other statistics, forums, etc. should give you a decent reference point aside from the purely anecdotal experience of other tf.tv goers.

grew up there.
fun place to live, but getting very crowded and housing is going up. it's also a big place "austin, tx" doesn't tell me much, you could be living in buda or round rock for all i know.
some neighborhoods to avoid, yeah. but it depends where job is.

living in a suburb of austin is a lot cheaper than living in austin itself since austin has crazy expensive housing. getting to downtown is pretty easy though since we have a decent public transport system (riding the metrorail is the most preferable way imo). in terms of living there, suburbs to look into would be like: round rock, cedar park, leander, georgetown.

I wish. The lowest it goes is like 20-25 if you're lucky enough to get on an actual Dallas server.
This will likely vary with ISP and Server provider.
