It's not that they sound similar to something, it's just that those words are never used in that context in that language so people aren't used to hearing them so they sound cringe and unnatural.

The idea of comming in my own language sounds aids as well. I would assume the same thing applies to all of the languages that don't have national communities that play and comm in their own language

For example, take the word choke out of context. If you're not used to hearing it used to refer to a map chokepoint, how dumb would it sound? Or airshot? The only reason these terms don't sound retarded is because we've been hearing them for years, which isn't the case for their counterparts in other languages

This is in any language now'a'days really. English is the more predominant language in the world it feels, so they throw these words in there because it is easier for them to say and more relative to the context than what their language offers.

It's an actual deprecated military term: "airplane jet turbine engine auxiliary mechanic non-commissioned officer student"

alright so what is the actual Finnish word for Soldier as an a person who serves in the army.

In non-English speaking teams*, they also refer to maps and classes by the English names, probably because things like Scout or Soldier aren't just words so much as they are names. They also will say "Spy down" or "Soldier down". I assume beyond the cringe, if you've been playing on international teams where the shared language will be English, there's just a lot of English in-game terminology that will transfer over even if your team isn't speaking English.

*I watched this Korean Highlander VOD and pug highlights a year ago and noticed this but I don't know if this is the case for all non-English speaking teams.
