knsumePartially yes, but its definitely not the reason why hl players dont like 6's. I think that has more to do with the fact that the way hl is designed people seem to think its ok to only be good at one class because that's the only one they're going to play in hl. This means that when they try to play 6's unless they already played a 6's class in hl they're going to suck ass and have a bad experience.

I agree, but I wouldn't blame HL on this. I think "class mains" will exist in any class or hero-based game. See Overwatch: it has 20+ heroes and hero switching as a crucial part of gameplay, and yet you have players running Symmetra only in ranked. Or more notably, the Mercy mains which most high level players complain to no end about.

People enjoy games differently and not everyone who plays TF2 is going to have the same interest on the different classes. And I've always defended that HL should exist for players who aren't interested in playing the generalists, and therefore aren't welcome in 6s... think about it - if HL didn't exist at all you'd see a lot more engie and pyro mains fumbling in ETF2L open or UGC steel sweating their balls off trying to make their class work. And it would make the lower levels less fun for people trying to play the meta.

Incidentally I also don't like the idea of 7s replacing HL because it opens room for some specialists but kind of shuts the door on others, in particular spy is situational, engie is only really good for defence and pyro is a mistake of nature. It's not as good of a comp gamemode as 6s and it doesn't have a "every X main is welcome" like HL.

For pyro to be viable in 7s you need to have dm and that's like 5% of pyros

There really aren't that many people who only literally play 1 class tho & plenty of the Highlander players who have moved over to 6s played a utility in Highlander as their main. But people branch out even in HL or even pubs (most people get bored only doing 1 thing), once they've played enough. Esp. HL utility players who get frustrated with the limitations of their class even in that format.

Ya there is a small group of people in HL who only play 1 utility class & have no interest in branching out, but those players are basically the same as pubbers who do the same and would be difficult to get into current 6s regardless of if HL existed or not and would just play that class in Prolander regardless, so eh. These aren't exactly the players you're trying to transition in the first place.

This was actually decently watchable. Was it as good as watching rando beat b4nny, no, but it was ok.

i really like the third person camera angles. it'd be cool to see more of that on tf.tv streams instead of solely first person POV. that is one of my favorite parts about watching Shade cast matches, it's so much more fluent and clear as to what is happening, and it probably makes casters lives a million times easier; instead of calling every little detail as it happens, you can simplify things and it ends up being less chaotic.

the gamemode itself looks pretty mindless, and I doubt anyone is taking it seriously, but it's somewhat OK to watch I guess?

what you see on stream is only the broadcasters pov who tries to catch shiny moments in first person where they look best. most casters use thirdperson or bird-eye to catch everything that's happening. static camera angles on stream usually don't look as good.
