i recommend to the moon, short rpg maker game thats on sale for under $5 that i really enjoyed. its more story driven but has some gameplay elements that make for some really funny jokes and it pokes fun at traditional rpg's. make sure you beat it in one sitting tho, its around 3-4ish hours long
If you get PUBG, definitely make sure your specs are up to par. My PC is just barely able to run it, meaning I tend to lose straight-on fights as I get between 6 and 20fps. Even with those limitations, I'm really enjoying this game. It's great if you love outsmarting other players on the fly.
Life is Strange is available for $5, definitely play that if you haven't yet. I'm not exaggerating when I say that that game has the best story I've ever seen in a video game.

Latest update from a few days ago has improved performance for all of us. Great game, and honestly the bugs that are still in the game make the game so much more hilarious.
Witcher 3 as well for a REALLY GREAT storyline, and for $25, that's a steal.
Firewatch also is a great storyline game. Very unique and only has 3-4 hours of gameplay, but incredibly immersive for that duration.

Hotline Miami, just bought a few days ago. Weird af story but great mechanics. (completely worth for $2.50)
I think PUBG is a pretty solid game to pick up. Personally, I found it too slow to play by myself but playing party with friends is a super fun experience. Other games I would recommend would be CSGO, if you could get past the relatively large learning curve, and Overwatch, which isn't an super fun game, but I find myself coming back a few times a week just to play in a competitive and at the same time casual game.
if you don't have all the valve games yet, buy them, they're pretty much all for less na 2$ and they're all great
Also Life is Strange, i did not like it at first but god damn that game is amazing, still having feels after finishing it.
Also Witcher 3, that game is a masterpiece. DOOM is also pretty cool
