Any possibilities of TFTV match streams being bumped up from 720-60 to 1080-60? The quality difference is huge, looking far sharper and letting people understand what's going on during crazy moments in-game.

Any possibilities of TFTV match streams being bumped up from 720-60 to 1080-60? The quality difference is huge, looking far sharper and letting people understand what's going on during crazy moments in-game.
At this point our producers have come to the conclusion we all stay at 720-60. One reason is for the fact that some of us are unable to handle 1080p whether it be hardware or internet bottle-necked. The other reason is that 1080p @6000kbps does have worse fidelity than a 720p @6000kbps. Many people have chat open which means the stream will only be 720p for them anyway. Side by side I have tested the same footage on 1080p and 720p both @6000kbps in the twitch viewer size, and a blind test has me preferring 720p either way.

I know wiethoofd (who doesn't produce directly for tftv but still) uses one monitor and so only runs the game at 720p so he can fit other stuff on the same monitor. putting the game in 1080p would be impossible for him

doesn't wiet have 4k 21:9 monitor? that might almost be equivalent of 2x1080p screens in terms of fitting stuff on screen

Directly from youtube, they recommend 7.5 Mb/s for 720p @ 60fps videos, minimum. For 1080p @ 60fps, they recommend at least 12.5 Mb/s. So unless every broadcaster has amazing internet (probably would need around 25 Mb/s for stable streams), they all have i7-7700 (or AMD equivalent) or higher processors (and they probably need a GTX1070 or higher as well) for stable 100+ fps at high quality, and such a high bitrate doesn't harm the viewers with internet that can't stably download 12.5 Mb/s, 1080p @ 60fps won't be a thing.

Along with this Twitch only allows up to 6mbps, so 1080p60 isn't feasible atm without a loss of quality compared to 720.

Is there a source for the max being 6 Mb/s? Only thing I can find is the blog stating they aren't limiting to 3.5 Mb/s anymore and a bunch of reddit threads and twitter posts of people claiming that 6 Mb/s is the maximum.

Although it says recommended and not maximum, it's safer to stay within the max they recommend because if you stream at a higher value, at least in the past, your channel could get shut down.

To actually contribute something useful to the discussion about 1080p streams:
- You need a good PC to be able to run TF2 smoothly while streaming
- You need a beast PC to encode 1080p @ 60fps on the fly (I'm doing all of this on a 6 y/o system)
- You need a massive internet pipe to have the proper upload
- A big part of your viewer base won't be able to enjoy source quality if they don't have a killer connection
- If you're not a partnered stream you're not guaranteed to have quality options (goes with the previous point)
