I believe Faceit has yet to release a statement on IBP
Does that mean swag can play now?
Edit: yes it does :D
honestly would be worth bringing the team back together and playing at every tournament that isnt a major lol
That being said I don't think it's likely that iBP will completely reform, but I'm sure any team would accept any of these players.
this is sick. i wonder if any teams are gonna change up some rosters as a result of this.
granted they still cant play in majors

IF whatever team they join elevates their level to being a $250k tournament winning team somehow it would certainly put some pressure on valve to consider unbanning them
Is this just for the case of IBP players that are now unbanned or does it apply to all previous match fixers?
(i.e. ex-Epsilon members like GMX, fxy0 and so on)

This feels like ESL trying to have their cake and eat it too. What with the comparatively short careers in e-sports, a 5 year ban is pretty much half a career, and by the time you get found out you're likely a couple of years in already. Sure, there are instances of pros playing well into their 30s, but without regular tournament practice to improve your game sense and communication, not to mention keep up with the metagame, the decline in raw reflexes that is inevitable with age is going to hurt a lot.
Sure, you have to come up with some sort of way to justify unbanning the iBP players this soon (that is, if they say matchfixers get lifetime bans, 3 years will look very jarring next to that), but if you're a pro now and get hit with a 5 year ban, you might as well go look for another game to play competitively.
their best chance is a tier-3 team who is unlikely to make a major, or they make a team themselves and poach two/three young players
Does that mean that JDuff and neaksie are unbanned?
Am i missing some part of the story here or are people in this thread celebrating the return of match fixers?

You aren't, however it's the return of matchfixers who have been utterly screwed by valve. They were banned and told their bans would be reevaluated in a year, which was then extended to permanent, when there was no precedence. Furthermore, there'd been additional outrage since ESL had shortened its ban lengths for players hit with a vac ban while not adjusting the match fixing. Pretty much universally people felt they'd rather have match fixers back than cheaters.
Additionally, swag, one of the players banned, was a minor at the time, and only partook due to heavy peer pressure from his teammates, so a lot of people wanted him unbanned because of that fact.
Also what a total fluke, got up to fly home from dreamhack this morning and threw on the IBP shirt I was given. What are the odds they get unbanned the first day im wearing it LOL

there was no precedence because this was the first time a team got caught match fixing, precedents have to be set somewhere. valve set the precedent that match fixing = perma ban. don't act like the ibp guys didn't know what they were doing was against the whole point of competition

getting banned =/= legal consequences, valve doesn't have to give him any leniency
