I know there are a megafuckton of threads about bad connection but couldn't quite find one that had what i was looking for
Currently stuck on WiFi as we're not allowed to hardwire into the camp router, and I'm using a cheap 15 dollar USB WiFi dongle. Currently working as a first aid merit badge counselor at a boy scout camp. Need to find some way to fix my internet quickly as i might be playing for a team during playoffs.
I have consistent 100-150 ping on wireless 802.11 b/g/n with spikes to 400 and occasional timeouts for a few seconds at a time. Internet connection is shared by probably 20 other clients. I use all default tf2 net settings other than 0 interp (probably an autist move there, but it worked for me when i had good internet). Anyone that can help me quickly would be appreciated.

Just hook this up, it should fix your problems.
No client-side device or setting can fix the terrible internet situation you are in. Only by replacing the camp router with a device that does proper QoS and bufferbloat management can you hope to share a connection with 20 people without lagging.
Is tethering your phone an option?

Phone tethering is an option I completely forgot about, and it helped a ton.
Also, apparently some people are gonna help pitch in and get a switch so that way we can actually hardwire. (The main issue the admin team at camp has with Ethernet is that the computer corner is like 100 feet away from the camp router).
Thank you Arie!
