Did we even have 50 teams each of the last two seasons post-merge?
i would be shocked if open got to 50 teams much less 75
We'd need 32 more teams assuming none of the open teams die this season lol. Just an unrealistic number.
We had 43 teams last season, Open + IM. Newbie mixes are happening this year, though, so that should add ~10 teams to open (also, please volunteer to coach/sponsor these newbies!).
50 is realistic, 75 is... if every single person that is LFT actually gets a team, which means we need more team leaders.
I remember a few seasons back, Saam put together that list of players LFT and ranked them by skill level. It was downfragged, but I actually thought that was hella useful to see all of the players in a document and possible teams that could be made from them.
Newbie drive + more players willing to lead teams could make this happen, we do have the player numbers. It'll be hella difficult, though.

Why do people care if im is coming back or not. Unless there's some massive influx of players, the division is just going to crumble after one or two seasons. I feel like people who are just pushing for another division are just the ones who want to call themselves "mid-low IM" in their lft posts.

the top open teams were clearly on another level from the rest of open playoffs
im trying my best to keep DW12 alive but it doesnt look too good right now :(

I mean skillgap is an issue even with IM. The top 4 or 5 teams would still be that far ahead regardless of division played in.
A better option might honestly be to expand invite out to like 12 or 14 teams with a 6 team playoff and keep open where it is rather then adding an IM that doesnt actually fix any problems.

Agree with Tino. A slightly larger Invite would help give us some time to see if we could actually increase Open numbers slowly and steadily. I still think it's a pipe dream to get IM back but that step seems more reasonable (dunno how ESEA would feel about that though).
making invite not 9 teams turns the season into 'who gets to play the 3rd place IM team the most times"

Yeah that's a problem. And the only other "nice" number would be 17 but that's a terrible idea too. I dunno, we're kind of just fucked and have been since IM died.

currently, including Newbie Mix Drive teams, we have 33 (potential) open teams and 13 IM teams. I don't think that filling up the rest of the required spots is that big of a challenge tbh
lmao what is this shit
