Mental illness has an entire array of professions dedicated to treating and overcoming it because of how equally "destructive" it is to a human being as a physical illness, the only difference between physical and mental illnesses are that physical illnesses have a visible cause which can be physically remedied, whereas a mental illness would require therapy or etc.

For example someone would go to a doctor to diagnose or treat their physical sickness, such as something like cancer, and someone else might go to a psychiatrist to diagnose or treat their mental sickness such as ADHD or depression.

The reason why people should share their reasons for the mental illness they suffer from is that much like a physical illness, you aren't going to be able to cure it without consulting someone who is able to help you, such as a professional.

imo there is definitely a difference between wanting to discuss and get support for depression, and posting a one liner about how you want to die, then cutting off all of your connections so people have no idea as to whether you're even alive.
