I’ve been using a Blackberry Classic for about 2 years, and I though it was high time that I upgrade for 2018. The main problems I’ve been having with my phone is that the Twitch app crashes often and YouTube is very laggy. It also doesn’t have Instagram and WhatsApp is losing its support for Blackberry OS. I mostly use my phone for social media and emails, calls, etc. so my priorities are that they can run apps like Instagram and last the entire day on standby while I get notifications from social media. It would also be great if they could run Twitch and YouTube properly without overheating my phone battery while going from 100% to 5% after one video.
Basically what I’m looking for is a phone that:
• Can run apps decently, such as Instagram, Twitch and YouTube
• Has a good battery life while on standby but still connected to wifi/data (this is a large priority, preferably going a whole day without a charge)
• Camera must be able to take pictures by quality doesn’t matter
• Don’t care if it’s heavy in weight or ugly, would prefer smaller phone though so it still fits in my pocket
• Leaning towards Android OS
• Hoping for a phone that can last me another 2 years
• Budget around ~$500 CAD (~$400 USD)
From my current research I have been attracted to getting an LG G5, but I was hoping to get other recommendations first. Even links to knowledge articles about phones would be great (I’m still learning). If there is an article about phones in this price range with good battery lives (not some Nokia flip phone) that would be great.
I’m also with Freedom Mobile (formerly known as WIND)
Thanks for the help!

I bought OnePlus 1 and 5, the first lasted me 3+ years, it was still very good and very much usable when I changed. Great phones IMO.

Seconded.
I bought a second hand OnePlus X, and although it was cracked, it was one of the BEST android phones I have ever used. I liked it more than the Nexus 5, one of the best stock android phones. OxygenOs is seriously good.

I got a OnePlus 5T for christmas from my dad (not sure if that's in your price range though) and I've loved it so far. He's had a OnePlus 5 for a while and really likes it as well.

OnePlus 5T is really hard to beat at that price point. I'd say it's by far the best new phone under $600. Not sure what your thoughts on a used phone are, but you can get some great deals on previous gen (and even current gen) high end phones used.
Check out Swappa if you're interested in used. I'd highly recommend looking at Google's pixel line. Fastest software updates, great battery life, and consistently smooth performance that lasts for a long time.

I was hoping to buy new initially but seeing these comments I might be willing to buy used. So I'm assuming the Pixel and OnePlus lineup don't degrade as fast as other phones?
