ETF2L Season 28 has concluded, and so have several runs from a handful of well-established teams that have competed in European TF2. Lowpander is one of these teams that will conclude with the season for their Premiership run.
Known for their insistence of playing a non-conformist 6v6 meta, Lowpander made their Premiership debut in ETF2L Season 26 after winning Season 25 of ETF2L High against Lemmings. Their roster consisted of Grenjabob, Mr. Epic, Muuki, uubers, Hildreth, and Kissakala during this time. In Season 27, the team would pick up Funs and Crayon to replace Grenjabob and Kissakala, and battled their way to the top until coming in 3rd Place after being eliminated by Arctic Foxes in the lower finals. With the help of a successful crowdfunding campaign, Lowpander was able to travel to Insomnia61 to take on the competition, only to take 3rd Place again after being swept by international team SVIFT in the lower finals.
The team continued forward for Premiership in ETF2L Season 28, with Marten making his Premiership debut after medic Crayon left the team. Sometime during the season, uubers would also leave the roster, leaving Lowpander without a soldier for the upcoming Esports United Community Rumble LAN, and would enlist papi from nunya to fill in for uubers’ absence. The team managed to take 2nd Place at ESU Rumble after being defeated by North American challengers froyotech, who were competing with a slightly modified roster for the LAN. The team continued to play for the remainder of the ETF2L season with papi before being knocked out by Ascent.EU during playoffs and finishing in 4th Place.
After Season 28 finished, teamfortress.tv reached out to team leader Hildreth, who told us that Lowpander would not be participating in ETF2L Season 29, stating there were players who lost interest in either committing to the game or playing the game itself. Self-proclaimed flex player Muuki was found expressing his frustrations during Funs’ personal stream in chat:
Lowpander died after ubrs ragequit in the middle of the season. Half of us just had committed to swelan already so we got papi to play and then we decided to just play the playoffs afterwards. The game started sucking once we reached the point where our competition was se7en and you couldnt just meme against them but they had been playing together for years with some of the better players of EU.
During i61, Hildreth also expressed how he hoped that other teams would follow Lowpander’s example, and not be afraid to try new things rather than stick to traditional gameplay.
With that, Lowpander’s roster consisted of:
- Scout: Mr. Epic
- Scout: Funs
- Flex: Muuki
- Pocket: Papi
- Demoman: Hildreth
- Medic: Marten
