Cant see that there is anything competitive alive anymore. Used to play it a while back ago, I think I have around 600 hours on the game. Really liked it in the past and its still alive with community servers (at least some 24/7 avalanche servers).

Back in 2011/12 there still was a very small scene at least in EU, can't imagine it being anything other than dead now though.

It's dead.

I played DoDs competitively when it first came out, and the primary league was CAL. CAL was very active for DoDs at the time. After CAL died out as whole, some home-brew leagues started up, with one or two being extremely competitive. However, this lasted until like 2009-2010, and I don't think anything serious has maintained itself since then.

I've looked every once in a while since then, and I think you can find a random league with maybe 3 or 4 teams max, but who knows if they are even active. In fact, who knows if the league is even actively managed anymore.

As someone who loves DoD dearly (probably my favorite game), I've thought about this a lot and I'm pretty sure it will only come back when Valve releases a new version (probably with the HL3 engine).

I still join public servers every once in a while to get my fill, and that's probably the best you're going to get, too.

Before I began competitive TF2 in any form, in 2012 I was originally looking to play DOD:S comp, and it looked like the few remaining leagues at that time were on the verge of death having roughly 10-15 teams total for NA. Looking around now there's nothing. I found a reddit post with a link to what the OP said was "This is the last competitive league for Day Of Defeat Source." and the link posted now redirects to some adware extension for chrome.

Otherwise if you want any semblance of competitive DOD you're going to have to find a pug group. I know one existed in NA just last year but pretty much the only people who played it were former Invite or near Invite Tier players.

I played DoD:S competitively back in 2007 and it was about dead by then, one of the main reasons I switched to TF2

Man original dod is the best shit.

Go on to one of the NeO GoDs servers and join in a conversation about vintage Mustangs with 50 year olds.
