I use the comanglia stability config in-game. Usually when I first start the game I get somewhere between 120-200 fps and in the middle of a scrim or casual game the fps drops to an average of 60. This is really concerning and it seems like maybe it’s using the integrated graphics card instead of the nvidia 1060.
This is very weird because in the nvidia control panel I have it set to use nvidia 1060 for tf2. Also yes for those wondering the laptop is plugged in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

you can use mat_info to see more about your hardware, the gpu should be near the top e.g.

@drifta no it’s on balanced right now, but I plug it in so I don’t think the battery is the problem.
@gemm thanks I checked and it said nvidia 1060 so I really don’t know what the problem is.
Edit: Found a setting in nvidia control panel called “Power management mode”. By default it’s on “Optimal power”. After switching it to “Prefer maximum performance” my problem has been fixed.

Update: Later on it reverted back to the 60 fps show :(. I’ve done everything I can imagine, set it to high performance, set the game to run with the graphics card, and it all has no difference in performance to the integrated card :(. Please help if anyone knows how to fix this. Setting nvidia control panel to use nvidia 1060 did not work.

Your laptop could be overheating which would explain why its good at first but then bad after a bit. when i first built my computer i had that problem but i just bought a better cooler, idk what you can do with a laptop

I’m starting to think my issue is the cpu and it’s not the gpu. This particular cpu does overheat quite a bit, it’s usually somewhere between 82-84 degrees celcius at its peak when playing a game.

Infinity_Your laptop could be overheating which would explain why its good at first but then bad after a bit. when i first built my computer i had that problem but i just bought a better cooler, idk what you can do with a laptop
I had the same problem with my laptop and I found underclocking my cpu a little gave me much more stable fps. Probably worth cleaning things out and trying cooling methods before you resort to that but yeah I would imagine that cpu overheating is the issue. TF2 isn't very gpu intensive esp if you're on low settings.
