Take a moment to step in Sigafoos shoes.
He organized a league which cost him a fortune in terms of startups and prize pools etc. He has a vision of making it a part of the new tf2 competitive era. But what just ended up happening is a team full of pro talent just ended up joining with no interest in the game mode and just in for the money. Sigafoos let this happen for four seasons, Hoping to see if a team remotely even puts up a challenge for froyotech. But froyotech was far from being beaten. bo4rs team(forgot team name) were the only team that put up a decent challenge for froyo, because of bo4r and froyo just ended up swiping him from their team. (I remember one of bo4rs ex-team member saying how before they had a glimmer of hope, because of bo4r being their beacon of light and now that he is in froyo, they stand no chance) Now would you continue paying out of your pocket just to see the league which was, in turn, going to be the new game mode(sigafoos vision), just end up being another league being farmed by froyo.
Now in no way, I am saying what he had done was right and could have handled this situation differently. But he is receiving way more hate than he deserves

In case anyone was wondering, there are currently 5 teams in RGL invite. One of those teams has only 4 players rostered. 2 of those teams are filled with silver HL players. Forcing froyo players to play for different teams is just straight up banning them.

Fuck anything to do with he format and whether or not I agree with it. This has to be the most retarded thing I have ever seen a competitive league do.

by banning the team but not the players, and support two teams in return featuring these players everyone would have something out of the deal

sigodfooTF2 is not the first game to run into this. Almost every single professional sports league has rules in place to try and prevent this from happening. Having one team siphon all of the best talent does not make for a healthy competitive ecosystem, and RGL is inclined to agree with the ideas of the rules that professional leagues have done to try and prevent this.

You know, the best part about this is that RGL is pushing really hard on it's statement on how different they are than UGC. Not only did you practically mirror all of UGC's faults, but you somehow made it much worse than UGC, with the excuse of there being a prize pool.

After discussing it with friends who agree with you sigafoo, how about you make your intended goal of killing a super team with different, subtler, and general rules?
Have you considered:
- Enforcing a salary cap using a system similar to fantasy tf2, where a team can not exceed a certain combined cost?
- Being less extreme with the rule of "1 froyo player/team" and go for something like "no more than 3 esea invite players/team"
- Using a handicap system; for example stating that any team that wins the season, or back to back seasons, receives some kind of round deficit for each match, etc
- Allow a team to bypass your rules but applying a round penalty to their results eg. give current froyo -2 (for example) to each of their round results
?

A more general rule like this as opposed to a rule targeting a specific team is definitely much more likely to be accepted and way less likely to be treated like a joke.
The problem is, no other league has these sort of restrictions for their highest division. Sure, you see a points system in lower ETF2L divs to prevent sandbagging, but any rule restricting team composition in TOP level play is generally going to be regarded as suspect, no matter what you do.

Itt: a bunch of whiney babies complain about the policies of a level of play that they will never see and get butthurt when they have to accept that competative tf2 peaked years before they even started playing the game.

Yeah well its his league, his time, his money, and it's worth trying, if the rule makes sense.
Also whats up with NBA I thought these guys had a salary cap in place. I dont know shit about basketball so what point are you trying to make?

fucking antlers made it to rgl invite. it doesn't take anything
i honestly feel like calling the division "invite RGL" is misleading for people unfamiliar with RGL's playerbase. it can lead to wrong assumptions that the players are good or that the gamemode is competitive at high levels.

uberchainsigafooI, like many others, have been waiting for “other people to just get better,” but it hasn’t happened.
This sentence is incredibly insulting. It is not only insulting to Ascent S28 or any teams in Invite past or present who have worked hard to at least put up a good fight against froyotech (and players from S28 Ascent after the GF went on-record saying
Let me preface this by saying that I think banning froyo is stupid.
However, I have to admit that this doesn't really answer the question at hand, that of Froyo's beatability. I have literally never played ESEA in my life so bear with me if I'm just being a fucking clueless idiot here.
Sure, you can write emotionally charged paragraphs about how horrendously insulting it is to insinuate that teams who play Froyo don't try enough, but the cold and hard truth is that every other team in NA gets absolutely fucking slaughtered by them. And because this is undeniably the case, I see only two explanations:
1.) These teams really don't put in enough effort to beat Froyoteach
2.) Froyotech's players are incontrovertibly better (have way way more raw skill) than everyone else in NA and have been for over 3 years
If the first is correct, it would seem as though people like Sigafoo aren't actually wrong in their assertions. And if the second is correct, then why hold out hope for anybody to beat Froyo at all, like so many people here are doing?
I'm just being honest here, all of the indignant essays in response to those who suggest these teams don't try hard enough seem like really kind gestures and pats on the back to beloved members of the community who happen to lose to Froyotech, but if it is the case that all these other teams DO try like froyotech does, it would seem as though the logical conclusion is that Froyo's roster simply contains far too much raw talent for anybody to compete with, which is why they fuck everyone else in invite in the ass every season. And if that's the case, why is sigafoo's cynicism about Froyo being unbeatable misguided?
Again, this is coming from the POV of a total outsider to ESEA, but if all these 100+ upvoted posts where people who continuously lose to Froyo respond to people like sigafoo about HOW FUCKING DARE HE say something so INSULTING are entirely correct in their content, then I don't see any explanation other than "Froyo is innately skilled at a tier vastly superior to all these other teams, and has been for several years," which I've got to admit would make me really cynical too, especially when I don't see anybody else suddenly closing that skill gap (if it truly does exist).
