holy shit i used to play RoT when i was a kid. this looks awesome.
so the rocket launcher is the only thing that does damage?
looks like it might be some fun
also protip, mute the sound because totalbiscut

I played this game at quakecon last summer very good reminded me of castle wolfenstein i played the multiplayer against 6 other guys its very fast paced if you like games like that
i loved the original RotT, pretty psyched for this.
this game looks fun. never played the original. plus it's moddable, something we hardly see anymore.
did the original have bunnyhopping/air strafing (both normal and rocket jumping)?

UT99 was like the first shooter I ever got into, so this looks really appealing to me. I can't judge right off the bat but having a game where every weapon is explosive might get repetitive for me, though.
the game was fraps'd @ 30 fps, prob explains why. otherwise it was easy enough to see stuff
Just want to tell people who didn't watch the entire video. The game is going to be in the steam workshop, and the dev's want it to be extremely open to modding.
I hope this holds even a candle to the original ROTT. I remember countless hours spent on the courtyard map destroying people with drunken rockets. Used to piss my friends off severely, heh.
Ahh, nostalgia.

Please support this guys, it's 15$ and has a long old school styled (maze-like get the keycard) single player campaign with old school power weapon multiplayer with mod tools and dedicated servers. If this game sells well it should send a signal to other developers that we want to see more fast paced Arena shooters.
The original was really good (and the first FPS to let you aim up and down!) and this game is essentially an HD remake of that one as far as the multiplayer goes (still has dog/god mode, ludicrous gibs, etc). It should be superb especially since the Unreal Engine is tried and true.
Here's a better video of it though imo:

It did not have bunny hopping (to my knowledge, bhop wasn't even a concept when this game came out) however it does have air strafing (it is actually the game that essentially invented air strafing and rocket jumping)

It's awesome that this is getting made, since it's totally defiant of the industry standards and it seems like the devs really know how to make a game from a tech standpoint, e.g. Targeting 120 FPS on all machines. And they've definitely got style.
Unfortunately, regarding the MP, I don't think this game looks like very much fun after the novelty of it wears off. Seems like you go for whatever explosive is nearest on the map, and that'll just autokill everything you aim vaguely near until someone else with an explosive weapon happens to aim vaguely near you. Rinse, repeat.
It's got plenty of spectacle and satisfaction to those ridiculous explosions going for it, but it doesn't seem like there's much room for skill. Bottom line is I think I'd get bored quick.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to trying this at launch, and really hope it does it all right. We haven't seen a game like this in a long, long time.

All the weapons with very large explosive ranges that you see are power weapons in MP so good players will control/time them just like Quake.
It's been awhile since I've played it obviously but IIRC the only weapon that can outright instant kill you really easily in one shot is the Excalibat which is a power weapon that can melee (and you can reflect projectiles with the melee which is kinda hard to do) or you can charge it up for a one shot. The other ones won't one shot you if you have the asbestos armor except for the Flamewall iirc which destroys asbestos armors.
I just wanna dog mode people again.

Bump, turns out there will be bunny hopping in MP, makes me wonder if ROTT95 had it because I never tried when I was a kid since it wasn't a thing really.

The balance with the big explosives seems kinda strange and might cut into how fun the multiplayer is, but it's still nice to see that classic arena shooters are still being made
