a new series of them comes around every few months from different sites then people stop playing them after 3 weeks. I think atm its ESL's turn

At least in NA teams simply don't participate in cups/1 day tournaments. The problem is there just aren't enough teams to fill out a bracket and offer interesting matchups. For every cup/1 day tournament you'll get a mix of 1-2 high level teams (usually that greasy nerd banny will bring his whole team), 1-2 mid level teams, and then a handful of random low level teams.
