After going 0-6 in ESEA Invite, Velocity eSports have dissolved their team for the season following their 5-0 loss to Meat Market on Sunshine.
Initially after Jarrett decided to quit the team, the team initially fielded ether_ as a replacement, with Jarrett citing various issues within the team:
Leading up to the first matches of the season, the offseason weeks I played weren't very fun. We seemed to struggle with things that should have easy fixes, but going into the first 2 weeks of the season, things somehow got worse overall rather than better. There's no point going into detail or examples on our exact issues, but I felt many of them were issues that I couldn't really help resolve, and was in a position where I just had to watch us make more mistakes than we should be, and do nothing. It made it really hard to focus and enjoy playing. Friday morning after our ascent match, I realized that the month of me playing had progressed into me dreading going into scrims, and not having any fun while playing at all. It sucks 'cause they're my friends, and I want to play TF2, but I just didn't want to continue playing how we were for the next 6 weeks.
However, shortly after ether_ joined, the team collapsed as a whole.
shamoo shared some details of the team situation in the end:
we didnt start off the season very well, and looking back we probably shouldve put more effort into map/demo reviewing rather than trying to just coast through. when jarrett quit we picked up ether and he was actually really good and we felt we were turning things around, but we couldnt turn it around in time for the last match we played against hells kitchen it was already a longshot of making playoffs after our previous losses but losing that match made it practically not possible,so that made a couple more people want to quit (which is totally fair since the goal and expectation we had was to make playoffs).
we might come back as a team in someway next season but i think the velocity brand isnt coming back again,so just incase it doesnt i wanna thank kenzie (original velocity owner) and everyone whose ever played/subbed for velocity cause ive loved every teammate ive ever had,all throughout the ups and downs of each season if anyone needs a player/sub i think most of us would play still and i highly recommend all my teammates to anyone looking for someone
ether_ vented some of his frustration with the situation in a teamfortress.tv thread:
i had a really solid invite team, with all friends, and it was killed by esea admins then i get offered a spot on velocity, and then it dies literally the day after i join it's so frustrating, i want to play invite and improve so badly but things are just preventing me from playing at some point my motivation is going to be completely drained and im going to completely quit the game
With no momentum left from what has amassed, Velocity eSports' roster was:
