Someone please teach me how to be Markus Miller and become a slap bass god. I've lowered the action on my bass and got new strings and this helped a little bit, but I think I need some pointers on general technique.

do not do this, dont just whack at the strings. theres very little control over this method and it really really liimits what you can do with slapping
use your thumbs knuckle to strike the string horizontally somewhere above the neck pickup
this way also lets you drag your thumbnail back over the string to double thumb and slap twice as fast

Use as little force as necessary to actually make noise, keep your thumb kinda loose like don't hold it rigid, realise Marcus Miller was only ever good on other peoples records and his own music is shite
