Thank you so much for posting that XD I've been trying to get mat_phong 0 to work for about half an hour now. Ha ha! Didn't know it was as simple as just changing the encoding type.

So I'm so late to this, and I'm sorry, but for future reference to anyone else, I had this exact same problem, and all I had to do was verify files in my steam library for tf2. My auto exec works once more, and I didn't even have to move it over to CFG.

Open your steam library, right click on Tf2, go to properties and look around the menu, there should be an option called "verify game cache". I can't be more concise cause I'm on my phone atm but it shouldn't be hard to find

Hey! If anyone still has this problem i found a way to fix it. Instead of using the autoexec.cfg, put the commands you want in config.cfg.

I don't know how I should feel about someone signing up just to dig up a thread from the graveyard with a problem that was solved almost 8 years ago that gets necro'd every couple of years, because he found a different solution.
I mean on one hand it's nice having them all in one thread, on the other hand it's not really a good solution (or any solution at all for most) and we should really let the dead rest in peace.
