MenachemIt's already painfully clear that everyone moving to this league is gonna be a mistake.
Also as someone who has played several seasons of RGL leagues I've never had any problems with their rules or moderation.

Hearing RGL's going to attempt to stranglehold NA broadcasting is epic birthday news :)

How is it a stranglehold
They just want to cast their own league.

The only things im worried about is sigafoo trying to break up rosters and rgl trying to kill spectating. If rgl doesn't let anyone else watch matches that's super shitty cuz now you only get one pov and you end up with owl's shitty analysis where u have to keep using the dumb stream's pov. I'd find it a lot more acceptable if rgl just said "don't cast the same match as us at the same time." and released the stv after so people can check out strats etc.
Tftv has way more experience with sixes so rgl not using tftv's talent is such a waste. I'm completely fine with having rgl.gg be the casting channel but sigafoo should let console/whoever is in control of tftv take over. Judging by how console is reacting i would say that sigafoo hasn't done that and he'd be flushing a lot of talent for no reason beside the fact that they've been working with the only 6's related stream that existed for the past 2+ years. He could even have marmaloo or other invite players cast with the fancy graphics of rgl/tftv if he really wants only rgl to cast.
also tftv forums are way better than rgl's

rgl is kind of fucking west coast players by starting at 9 ngl. 6/630 means that if someone gets held up at work, they will probably be late to their match and they will definitely not have time to warm up. and the enemy team has the option to deny a 630 reschedule (im sure that teams that do that will be called out and receive downfrags on tftv but is that all that will happen?)

Additionally, nothing is stopping the tftv production crew from joining the RGL production crew for 6s casts if they want to.
The fact that sigafoo just straight up dislikes many tftv people is probably a reason. Not to mention that the people who wanted to make the NATF2L contacted sigafoo about a month and a half ago about a possible partnership because we atleast know what 6s players want and are apart of the community and he more or less told us to pound sand because "our vision doesn't line up with what RGL wants tf2 to be". And then we learn from one of the NA admins that the admin wanted to actually talk to us about stuff but that was never allowed to happen. I would be VERY careful about what sigafoo says about anything in regards to how the 6s division is going to be run because he is very good at twisting words and spinning things. I have never been a fan of the RGL league (this is no secret) due to how it is presented and some of the underlying messages being sent, but it seems that it's going to be the main NA league at this point, so w/e. It is honestly probably the best option, but please for the love of God guys at least push for STV rights if you do anything. STVs and open casting have ALWAYS been massive part of this community and they are the reason we had people like bren and sideshow and Cornpop and gecks. Don't let it die because someone wants to monopolize shit because they are being over protective and petty.

RebiteThe only things im worried about is sigafoo trying to break up rosters and rgl trying to kill spectating.
Respectfully, given that RGL has been consistently been growing, now getting around 150-200 viewers on our streams. Hitting 1,000 viewers during the Grand Finals (multiple times this year alone.) I do not think we're doing anything close to killing spectating if anything we help grow it.
We've gotten a ton of compliments for progressing the quality of viewership experience. Using more angles to make team fights easier to follow. Having good casters who good microphones (e.g. not picking up key presses) and having casters who've played at the top level and understand the game. Or even the very basics of having players aliased up with their actual alias casters call them + their team tag.
Our goal is to cast games which pass the test of the Invite level players. That you don't have casters who you groan at for saying things that don't make sense. While also focusing on making the cast inclusive to newer viewers as well. Making it so matches, seasons, players are easy to follow even if you're not the most up to date.
We also have already started expanding our casting team behind the scenes to bring in more sixes players to give us the expertise in that area for color commentary. And we are definitely very open to bringing in tf.tv folks who want to join our growing casting org.

Teams cannot deny a reschedule, they have to either accept or offer a new time.
If the 30 minute difference is a clear and large issue, we're not dead set on it.
Also to be clear since people are getting confused. All matches are defaulted for 930. The only exception to this is Open on Wednesdays at 9pm.

When i said spectating i meant spectating for actual players not spectating for people who just watch the game and don't play it. In esea you can join the stv server while the match is live and watch it with your friends in a mumble. Restricting stvs makes it so that friends can't join the stv and watch it themselves. For example if you're only interested in one player on a team you can just watch their pov the entire match instead of being forced to watch the twitch cast which has other people talking over it and different camera angles.

are you saying pregames has to start at 8:30est? Because that not only makes it impossible to play hl and sixes at the same time but that also means that west coast players have to get home at 5:30 to be able to play sixes

A) none of the players from Ascent were invited to the 'team leader meeting'
B) Please try to stick to the 11pm EST Wed/Thurs match times that Invite players have been playing on for the past ten+ years. A lot of teams don't/can't scrim Sundays and having ONE scrim day a week before default Tuesday match would be brutal. Starting pregames at 6 pm PST is also something that is not viable for a lot of west coasters

Matches will be one map, broken into two halves.
1st Half - First team to win 3 rounds or 30 minutes
2nd Half - The first team to a total of 5 round wins or 30 minutes

It seems that using the point system promotes stalemates considering winning 1 round and losing 0 gives the same amount of points as a 5-0.

Personally, I think most people sixes players are chill. In my time over the last couple years in particular, when I've had interactions with people they've been positive. It feels like there's a small, but very vocal minority who likes to stir shit, insult me and run with narratives that are either half-truths or just outright slander.
You can talk to ANY of the 6 Invite leaders that I've worked with in starting up this league and coming together on this rule set. Not only did we have a couple meetings that went for 2-3 hours, I also personally talked with each of them 1 on 1 for about an hour or more, each. They were fantastic and easy to work with and I'd be shocked if they didn't say the same about me.
You can try to twist a false narrative all you want, but the truth is simple. I care about TF2. Do you think that running a league that you built from the ground up is fun? Do the website, admining, production, everything I stay in touch with. Interacting with the players, etc... This isn't fun, I don't do this because of ego. If I wanted to do something for ego I'd go back to streaming. That shit is 10x easier and I actually make money and would have free time again.
I do ALL OF THIS because I love this game and want to see it at it's best. And I have the resources, energy and perseverance to deal with people like you who needlessly try to insult, spin half-truths and undermine anything I do. Because there's a clear difference between someone who's actually trying to raise concerns about our ideas, which we appreciate and take into account, and what you try to do it. But fortunately, you are a blip, a dot, a stain on what is a fantastic community else wise.
My goal is to create the league that I WISH I had when I was playing. One which is has an active and involved admin staff. One that is focused on not just sustaining but finding growth. One that is not afraid of trying new ideas and pivoting as an organization to find that growth.
And so if that's not an organization you want to be a part of. It's simple don't sign up with us. We're not forcing anyone to join the league. All of the Invite teams signed up after spending hours working with me and going through the weeds of running the league, but if you don't trust me because you never have and never will. That's okay, we've grown into the largest league in NA with an awesome community behind it and it's okay if you want to be part of that.

Streaming Delay
As we’ve done with our other leagues, POV streamers who are streaming a match being officially casted by RGL must use a 3 minute delay. This allows the official match cast and the player’s perspective to be closer to equal footing, by allowing the POV which is ahead of the STV delay to be closer to the STV delay + twitch delay. Per our new rules this year, players cannot stream their POV during the Grand Finals match.
After RGL finishes streaming any match, the winning team can provide a twitch stream of a player from the winning team and we will rehost them after each match, including the Grand Finals
One thing to remember is that when a league is trying to secure sponsorships, it is important to have strong viewership numbers of a stream. Having good numbers is an important selling point to help grow our league and our prize pools for players.
External Broadcasters
For external casters, for any game that RGL is not broadcasting, you may get the STV and broadcast the match without issue. Default ports for STV are 27020.
For any match that RGL is broadcasting, you will need to work with our production team as our servers cannot handle having a large number of people inside of the STV without creating STV lag. You will have to have a relay setup, so you can fit the 3+ people broadcasting in the STV at the same time as the RGL team.
RGL does reserve the right to maintain exclusive access to the STV as they see fit.
All match broadcasts STV Demos will be automatically uploaded public and anyone can download them and use them as they like.

solid rules tbh, interested to see maps played the least by the invite/advanced pick/ban during the regular season.
May i suggest you to get a pub server to funnel more players to your website?
Btw you mention RGL being a business. But the prize pool you offer roughly matches the number of players you expect * the average fee. What gives?
rulesIf a player wishes to off-class down multiple divisions or “coach” a team while playing with them, the only way that would be considered is if the player perma-played medic.

sigafooI do ALL OF THIS because I love this game and want to see it at it's best. And I have the resources, energy and perseverance to deal with people like you who try to drag me down at every opportunity you get. But fortunately, you are a blip, a dot, a stain on what is a fantastic community else wise.
The notion that the people and organizations that disagree with you or dislike you are worthless is deeply problematic, and it's the reason many of the people heavily involved behind the scenes of this community have such a deep disdain for you. We all work hard, we all make sacrifices, and we all love the game. You don't have a monopoly on that.
I'm excited about the league, but monopolizing and compartmentalizing should not be your goal, and it should not be RGL's goal. It's petty, even if you feel it's right. Do you think that the Newbie Mixes was overjoyed working with ESEA for as long as we did? Of course not. It was a burden. The amount of effort to replace it with something better was much more than it was worth, and would have hurt the wider community (see: CEVO). The same goes for TFTV with you right now. It's the premiere casting organization, and has great talent. There's no reason to reinvent the wheel when you have other things to worry about (which seems like you do, based on all the things listed in your post that you are working on).

Because you don't take money out of a growing company. The only way I ever find a payday with this company is if we really knock it out of the park.
If we'd become profitable, it wouldn't be for at least a few more years. Right now we're focused on sustainable and finding growth at the same time. Create an experience that the existing players enjoy, to keep them around and bring new players in.
Like how our HL league has grown every season.
We then want to focus on creating accessibility to through a PUG platform which is very easy to pick up and get involved in. And then we would focus on really going for big growth.
Worst case, we end up with a league that's not profitable but has a core good player base with good, sustainable prize pools and consistent LANs. Which isn't that big of a worst case :).
solid rules tbh, interested to see maps played the least by the invite/advanced pick/ban during the regular season.
May i suggest you to get a pub server to funnel more players to your website?
Btw you mention RGL being a business. But the prize pool you offer roughly matches the number of players you expect * the average fee. What gives?
Because you don't take money out of a growing company. The only way I ever find a payday with this company is if we really knock it out of the park.
If we'd become profitable, it wouldn't be for at least a few more years. Right now we're focused on sustainable and finding growth at the same time. Create an experience that the existing players enjoy, to keep them around and bring new players in.

KevinIsPwnsigafooI do ALL OF THIS because I love this game and want to see it at it's best. And I have the resources, energy and perseverance to deal with people like you who try to drag me down at every opportunity you get. But fortunately, you are a blip, a dot, a stain on what is a fantastic community else wise.
The notion that the people and organizations that disagree with you or dislike you are worthless is deeply problemati.
If you're taking my words to mean that "anyone who disagrees with me is a bad person and a stain on the community" then you taken my words GREATLY out of context.
Even the VERY FIRST page of this document, I talk about how we changed our scoring system after we took criticism and made a change from it. You don't get to where we are if you cast aside every negative thing being said about you.
Obviously, you have to take negative words, even toxic filled ones. You have to understand who's saying them and why are they saying it? We've literally changed something every season in every single format because we actively listen to our player base and their complaints or praise.
So clearly your mischaracterization and misunderstanding of the statement is not correct.

could you spin off the traditional 6s stuff into a new discord? or have you done that already? right now i see a traditional 6s lfs page in the prolander one. it would be nice to get trad 6s match announcements without getting hl/7s announcements.
ps why does rgl.gg log me out so fucking much, and then i have to dig out that stupid steam guard shit to get back in. god i hate steam
